As long as nobody's been monkeying around with it putting the wrong kind of wire in it, you'll be fine. Just don't use an electric lawnmower and then run over the flex cutting it, or not without an RCD thingy between the plug and the socket, anyway. Probably best not to take risks overloading the system either - don't plug loads of things all into the same socket with an adaptor or 4-way extension or whatever.
When you sell the house, whoever buys it will probably be told by their surveyor to get the whole house rewired, and the fuse box will be replaced with an RCD-protected consumer unit then.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
yay, written 2 proposal. one more to go and I can knock that up quite easily after the last 2.
then off for a week. back to work for a week and then off for two weeks.
Hope everyone is keeping well?0 -

did the fairies bring him a car to drive?
Seriously HUGE congratulations. I'll be honest, I don't know how parents let their kids out in cars. I taught dh to drive and struggled. Since the crash at the beginning of the year I have found myself wanting to drive a lot when we are together....he's fine, not bothered at all or phased by it, but I'm worried about him too much.0 -
Still haven't got my head round whether the American system's more dangerous than ours.
You need a certain minimum voltage to push current through skin. but it only takes a fraction of an amp to kill you.
Do they have less deaths than us? Not counting the electric chairs of course.
V = IR (Ohms Law). Your resistance will be basically constant in any given situation whether you are in the US or UK.
V is either 110 or 240 volts depending where you are so current (I) should be higher in the UK.
However, there is a limiting factor: the fuse limits the current you can draw from the circuit. My guess is it will depend whether the US or UK use bigger fuses.0 -

So I suppose our system is more dangerous. I wonder if that's the reason the UK opted to have a three-pin system (probably everyone else knows this already).
I did spot somewhere that we dropped voltage to 230V some time ago without much fanfare.
Most equipment apparently unaffected except, annoyingly, microwave ovens which then ran 15% less output and needed more time for cooking. Like everyone was expected to guess about it.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

The first few times I drove after passing my test, I drove my mother's car with my mother.
The first time without a licenced driver, Mama made me take my (16 year old) sister with me. Eleanor nearly gave Mama a heart attack when we got back, as she said, "Those lights at the front aren't expensive, are they?"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Our kitchen cabinets are now installed, as is the floor (which was done first). The sink's in, too. Now the oven and hob need connecting up, and the worktop laid, the tiles done, and bob's my uncle! It's really gorgeous, plain, and made from oak....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
