Had an e-mail this morning from MCS Technology. They are offering special pricing at the moment on Dell laptop batteries. I seem to remember a while back that a few people were considering getting these or new power supplies.

I haven't compared the prices elsewhere, but thought I'd post a link in case anyone is still looking:

    http://www.mcscom.co.uk/section.php?xSec=64

I've used them before for Dell parts and they were ok.

Cheap - £13 when I've paid £22 before (Dell price is £39). Just noticed they don't include the power lead bit of the charger ie between charger and plug, so not that much cheaper.

Round here, nearly all the houses were built in the 1910s-1930s, and the garages are too small to park a modern car in. I don't think I've ever parked my car in a garage.

I didn't think anyone ever parked a car in a garage. After all, they are designed to be outside (-:

Interesting. I've not lost a power cord but did need the bit between the plug and the charger as on my Dell power cord the pin to the earth broke off as it was made of plastic and cracked. I think I paid £22 or £23 for the whole lead from MCS so you're right, about the same. The deal they are promoting though is on batteries. I have no idea whether they're cheaper as haven't had to replace a Dell one yet.

Our garage contains a car. Along with a bike, several paint tins and other useful items. No radio though, just an old cooker that we haven't got round to putting out for disposal. This may be a good move though, we'll probably get it shifted for free by a rag and bone man now they've started up again, whereas it would have cost us £25 for the council to take it.

    Um,

Anyone got something alcoholic to hand?

If so, please pour yourself a glass because I'd like to make a toast to the planning dept of my local council, who have today managed to agree that all they had to do months ago was say ''Yes''. We have our PP and listed buildings consent!!!

Because I know how to live it up I went out and bought some fishsticks to have as a celebratory lunch before sharing this news.

When the hell did those things get so vile? I mean they were always weird and fake, but they used to have a creepily addictive sweetness...this is just flavourless rubber. Wish I'd splashed out on something like scallops now.
