Have you noticed the lack of doomsday/world domination threads lately, I think I know where they have gone, SKY appear to have give them their own channel, 200 Controversial TV:eek: how long has that been going?

Yes, and I'm worried that unless we have some kind of emergency soon, the store of tea, rice, noodles, spaghetti, beans and various other tinned items that I've been stashing in the garage will become an embarrassment. Eventually, 'she who sees all' will find it.
I started doing this hoarding thing back in 2008 and, well, it was the start of a very slippery slope.......:o
Anyone seen Dopester or his dog lately? No, thought not. Could be significant!0 -
That's a good time, about the time I'd aim for I reckon with training anyway.
Any faster and food becomes a problem for me at least: you need 1g of carbs per kg of bodyweight per hour. For an 80kg man that would be 80g of carbs per hour which is 0.5l of Powerade (34g) and a couple of gel sachets or perhaps 4 muesli bars plus you'll need 0.5l of water per hour or 2 too. I find it hard to consume that much and keep a decent pace going.
OH is muttering about buying a racing bike - he reckons that would be significantly faster than his current bike, which is a cross-country one.
He had a foul drink called Mountain Dew, a stash of peanuts and raisins, energy bars, and those gel sachets you put in water....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I've never seen Sky, wouldn't know how to work it0

You don't work it.
Mr Murdoch uses his subliminal powers to ensure it controls you 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
It should be a great couple of days in the Tour today and tomorrow. Absolute crackers. They'll really be hurting by the end of tomorrow.
One of the best days racing in the Tour that I've ever seen.
Epic effort by Andy Schleck and fabulous effort by Cadel Evans chasing him down.
Its been the best tour in years.
Have you done the Galibier ?US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -
Interesting to see if he pay's for all that effort tomorrow.
He still needs more time on Cadel to be sure before the TT on Saturday.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

It would be quicker.
One thing that the shops don't tell you is that for the ordinary mortal (eg me) the very expensive bikes are no good as they need so much maintenance. Better to spend £500-1000 than £5000 as the cheaper bikes can actually be ridden whereas the expensive ones are always being rebuilt.
They're a bit like sports cars I guess.0 -
PN, no one can change what's happening with the olds, but it's good to know you're no longer expected to cope alone, nor so uncertain about where it will all go.
Anger is a 'normal' emotion in the circumstances too, (don't I know it!) so don't feelwhen it happens.
Just popping by again, but have to say I agree with michaels: make sure you are doing what you enjoy rather than doing it for the money, once the time has passed doing something you dislike you can never get it back.
My main working life is just a big blur now, but the overall impression I took away was one of pleasure & fulfillment. If I'd done something financially more rewarding, things might be easier now materially, but there are no 'if only....' thoughts.
Hope that doesn't sound smug, 'cos it's not meant to.
I know what you mean and it doesn't sound smug at all.
There are chunks of things I don't like doing (mainly because I am not great at them) but they are part of the whole jigsaw so I don't mind.Yes, and I'm worried that unless we have some kind of emergency soon, the store of tea, rice, noodles, spaghetti, beans and various other tinned items that I've been stashing in the garage will become an embarrassment. The hoarding things is funny as I didn't really do it as we didn't have hidden away places to put it in Brighton rental plus I didn't want to fill it up with stuff as it wasn't 'ours'.......but in our own house I have a whole garage with lots of cupboards and lots of shelves...and no plans to move anytime soon.
I have a new shopping system as food shopping where we are is miserable.
I am back onto my Lowest Margin Supermarket shop too...where there's a loss leader going on something we use, I am all over it and buy armfuls.
The snag is that last time I did 30 boxes of Felix jelly pouches (so had to drag 2 trolleys around) and they take up a lot of space. I also have 22 jars of Nescafe Espresso coffee and this week asda reduced 3 in one dishwasher tablets from 4.74 to 2.34 so I cleared the shelf, oh and wine....lots of wine.....and all this stuff takes up space and is really no good if there is a nuclear war / riots.
I would have to re-hydrate on wine and eat cat food...along with the jars of mayo etc.
It means I can weekly food shop in the farmers market and not be tempted to buy fruit/veg/meat//bread in Asda whilst buying cat food + coffee...and it's tempting as it saves time but it's soul-less and our local Asda is grim beyond grim.PasturesNew wrote: »I've never seen Sky, wouldn't know how to work it
You're not missing much on the whole. Was today OK for you and the olds?0
