PPI Finance Company placing blame on Car Dealership

Hi, I'm new to this site, and please forgive me if this issue has been raised before. Have looked at previous threads and haven't seen it mention.
Both my husband and I have several Loans with PPI's, both personal and with our small business. The loans etc were in our individual names and not the business names
We are both self-employed, my husband the proprietor of the business, and I am on a self-employed basis working in the office.
We have 3 car loans between us with Citroen Financial Serrvices (Banque PSA Finance), and also known as Peugeot Financial Services.
We were sold the PPI's (and loans) through the car dealership
Ours being a typical case of being self-employed, a forceful saleman who said we had better chance of getting loan by purchasing PPI, not asking about pre-existing medical conditions etc. etc
I wrote off standard letters for each Loan and posted this week
Today we have heard back from Citroen Financial Services saying that as the Dealership :Quote: "is registered as an Authorised Firm with the Financial Services Authority, the responsibility for dealing with the complaint would rest with the dealer themselves rather than with Peugeot Financial Services" . They have forwarded our letters to the Dealership.
As all 3 Agreements were between Citroen Financial Services and ourselves, I would have thought that the Dealership were only acting as their Agent and that the Finance Company were responsible?
Can anyone advise me on the answer to this please, would be most grateful

    Hi and welcome

That is correct - whoever set up the account are the ones responsible, however, what I would do is write to the dealership to make sure they have passed on your details, and even send them a copy of the letter you received.

They normally have 8 weeks to come to a decision on the complaint, but should confirm they have received your complaint within a week or 2 that they received it.

Good luck and plase keep us posted, cheers.;)

  • Hi Di, thank you for your reply
Sorry, I wasn't too clear which you were saying were correct- are you saying that it is the Dealership that is responsible or the Finance Company?
    Many thanks

    Hi there

Yes the dealership as they were the ones who were responsible to setting this up, the finance company would be where the payments you make go to every month.;)

You are not complaining about having PPI as there is nothing wrong with that. You are complaining about how it was sold. The finance company didnt sell it to you. The dealer sold it. So, your complaint is with the dealer.

  • Thank you Di and Dunstonh, for both your replies.
That has really helped me, and I know now to pursue the Dealership.
    Really appreciated!

if you are complaining that something was mis-sold to you, you take it to the company that sold it to you.

Since the user concerned hasn't logged onto the site since September 2011, it's unlikely you'll get an answer.

Where do I go if the 'car dealership' is no longer there please?
Would I go direct to Peugeot?
