Vodafone Internet dropping
Has anyone on Vodafone had a problem where Internet on your mobile stops working periodically even thought the connection is fine? In my home, I've got fine reception (3 or 4 bars out of 4) but recently the data connection has stopped for hours on end. The 3G indicator on my phone then disappears, and if I notice, I can connect to WiFi, but if I don't notice, I miss out on messages.
Could anyone advise me on what to do with this? Is this usual for Vodafone? Is this better for other networks? My contract has finished so I can easily swap networks.

Hi oergiR,
I am sorry to hear that you are having some problems using the internet.
It may be a known fault with the network in your area. If so, it will be logged on our eForum here. If it's not already logged, you can post it here for our team to look into.
Kind regards,
Heidi

Hi neilanand,
That certainly shouldn't be happening with the handset.
Have you tried your SIM card in a different phone to see if it still happens?
You are more than welcome to get in touch with me to look into this in more detail.
You can email me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. Please also include a link to your post and a contact number.

There are a number of complex factors at work here, the indicated signal strength is just one.
1) The phone may be dropping back to 2G from 3G. This is fine for calls but will give very poor data performance.
2) If this is a new smartphone and you used to have a "feature phone" such as the old Nokias I've found my new smartphone is much worse at Vodafone 2G performance than my old Nokia.
3) Vodafone may have congestion elsewhere in their network so even though the phone - mast link is fine there are problems elsewhere.
As a general observation, if you want best data performance try "3" but only on PAYG, you don't want anything which involves talking to their call centre EVER !
Best voice coverage seems to be Vodafone or O2.0
