Mistakes happen at sale time- there are queues winding down the length of the full shop floor, and most people buy at least one clear plastic bag full of stuff. You have to work on a tiny workstation, with various other staff buzzing around, you have to work fast, keep it tidy, and do it all while making pleasant conversation and with a smile! I no longer work for Next, but the sale there is like no other place on earth.
Regarding the full price stock mixed in- it won't have been a "scam" to get you to buy the items, but things get missed, or someone asks a member of staff to mark all that bay down, not realising there's something else mixed in. And Next actually DO NOT need to honour prices marked down wrong. The prices shown are an invitation to buy, they can refuse to sell if they wish, it is a goodwill gesture to do it. But DO check your reciepts, sometimes items do catch the scanner as they go in the bag, shoes are an absolute !!!!!! to scan at the best of tmes, people mix and match outfits to suit what sizes they want, the cashier is only human0 -

I used to work as a manager at Next whilst at uni so can have a bit of input into this -
From when the store closes the night before the sale, there is a massive operation to clear out all of the none sale stock and bring all of the sale stock in. This is generally stock from the first part of the season so wouldnt have been on the shop floor anyway.
Some of the stock on the shopfloor up to sale day then needs to be prepped for sale (you can usually spot this the days before the sale by some pencil writing under the barcod. Incidentally, this is a good way to get sale items without the sale experience - buy at full price, return after sale and buy them for sale price). All in all it is a big task, and will not finish until the seconds before the store opens.
Off topic, and quite embarrassed about this, but still makes me laugh..... I have a tendency for flatulance quite early in the morning, and used to find it amusing to position myself in the middle of the queue, parp one off and then watch from a distance if anyone would leave the queue that they had been in for ten minutes!
Completely immature, but what memories!:cool:0 -
Both my receipts fine - luckily I only had a couple of bits, some PJ's for OH and some trackie bottoms for me then in a different store a jumper for me and both add up correctly.
The jumper seems a bit big but I'm not complaining - its lovely and comfy!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
