Dentist

Bit of a random post but I'm hoping for some advice. I'm unfortunetly claiming JSA. I had a dentist appointment yesterday which I missed, due to my own stupid confusion and I'm now very worried that I'm going to be charged a late fee. Obviously I dont have a great deal of money but wouldn't like to be charged. Does anyone have any knowledge?

  • You need to speak to your dentist and find our their policy.

My dentist don't charge for missed appointments, but they also won't treat you in the future...

Hmmm I thought because I was on JSA I dont have to pay for treatment. Don't think its income based.

No not at all. If you are on contribution based you still have to pay like you did when you were working. Thats why I couldnt go to the dentist for 6 mths till I could get it for free now I have an abcess and have an appointment for consultaion to get the tooth taken out under sedtaion.

I don't know where you are but in Scotland they can charge for a missed appointment. My surgery charges £1 per appointment minute. So a 10 minutee check-up is £10 which is somewhat ironic when check-ups themselves are free.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Wow now I'm scared. I'm in glasgow and was to get a filling and my teeth cleaned. I've been with the same dentist for my whole 21 years of life and have never so much as been late. The whole world is all about grabbing money everywhere they can aren't they. It makes me sick.

Have you ANY idea how much missed appointments cost the NHS?!

Perhaps you should use the calendar and alarm functions on your iphone ;)
