worst shopping trip ever

Did the worst shop ever tonight (all my own fault)

Made a bad decision to go to tesco at 7pmish tonight with my dds (10 & 4) totally unprepared with no list and a vague idea of how much money in the bank! (£70ish I thought) and without transferring money from OH account beforehand which i needed to
Only went really as had promised dd1 to get a scooter with bday money I owed her

After throwing things in wthout adding up (stupid I know)I get to the till with banging headache and shopping starts to go through -get to £82 so i ask SA if I can knock a few items off whilst trying to avoid eye contact with ppl behind :o
Very helpful young lad does so and accepts my coupons with no drama and even knocks £10 with a voucher another customer has dropped at the till - im thankful for that obv :)
Try to pay with card £70ish and card is declined :o:o
He rings off till and off I trundle to cashpoint to find only £60 available:eek: at this point i should have abandoned trolley and started again/came back 2moro but i go back and ask him to knock off some more items including loo roll!
At this point he has closed his till for me and I then drop a box of eggs on floor :(. I apologise and tell him i will never approach his till again! he is laughing saying I have livened up his evening ( at least someone is enjoying themselves)
Finally pay and get out of there, get to the car and wonder why i didnt return expensive dishwash tabs (on offer but still ££)??
Also look at receipt and realise never handed over clubcard (cc points being the only reason for going tesco not asda) didnt realise at this point I could add them on
Then also relise cannot use 5p off fuel voucher (fuel needed as gauge on red) as no money left. :(

Felt like crying when i got home! Feel a bit better after ranting though (OH is at work so noone else to tell lol)
Sorry if i have posted in wrong place

Anyone else got a story to top that?........

That's pretty bad and no, I don't have a story to top it.
One day though it'll be one of the stories you tell to make people smile. Honest.
Hope your next shopping trip has less drama :)

Thanks for the read! Poor you!!!
Just call it a bad day... and blame it on sods law!

Strange how when you dont prepare for one thing, everything else fails.... (probably because you keep thinking about that failed thing and get side tracked. :( )

You will be laughing about it when you look back I'm sure.

On Wednesday OH took me shopping. First T,s then Asda and finally Sainsburys, about 40 mile round trip. He waits in the car, but wasn't there when I'd done T's. Tried to call him and my phone died (I never leave the house unless it's charged .this was the first and last time) he arrved back 10 mins later. No bagains in T's off to Asda had to use ss and that played up, bought multi charger for my phone and after almost causing injury I got it out of the packaging and it didn't fit my phone. Off to Sainsburys in time for mark downs. OH wanted to be home for cricket but with out a watch (strap broke on tumble dryer) or phone I relied on him reading the time on his phone. This was a mistake without his reading specs. Anyway got shopping and a few bargains but had to stop at cs because of overcharge. This took ages and I wasnt a happy shopper, I was in a hurry. Got to car and OH icon8.gif Discovered the correct time !!! The cricket had started. It was now 7.15pm. We'd been shopping since 3pm. As we were about to leave the carpark two senior ladies walked in front of us causing us to break and on trying to continue the clutch cable went. I returned to the store to call AA. (Had almost cancelled cover last week but just reduced it instead) Had to use the store phone, rather embarrassing after the overcharge incident. AA arrived and toed car to our mechanic and then dropped us and all our shopping home. Put our fresh made pizzas in the oven and just as they were ready nxt dr came round and by the time we ate they were just edible !

But today the car is fixed, I got some free t bags in the post from Clipper and won some head phones when I topped up with O2:j

So you see when its that bad it can only get better (she says fingers crossed) Hope your luck changes and you have a good weekend:)

    Thanks for sharing your story
  • Not to top that no, but I didn't discover until last Sunday when I came to pay at Tesco's, only to find my debit card wasn't in my purse, that they do have some sort of facility to take your details at CS & give you 7 days to pay.

Not sure exactly how it works as I ended up putting it on a credit card instead,() but it might be useful to know if anyone is ever stuck in the future.:)

(oh, & don't forget you can still add your clubcard points at CS.)

Sounds like a nightmare, but one day you'll see it from the SA's point of view and realise it really wasn't that bad!

On the CC points issue - are you SURE that's a sound reason to go to T's instead of ASDA? If money is tight, you might find ASDA cheaper especially with the online price check thing they are running at the mo...

If you can make the price check work for you, & you have an Asda within striking distance, then yes, it's certainly worth considering.
However, don't just assume Asda is cheaper or you could be spending more than you need to. ;) It's very much swings & roundabouts, depending on offers etc, but also their standard prices on some things are more expensive than other stores..even without the offers, so you just need to shop around a little.:)

I went to T's today and bough 2 six packs of water. I didn't realise they had changed the packaging and it now isn't strong enough for the weight of the water so as I picked the first one up the plastic ripped dropping them back into the trolly and exploding the 16 yoghurts I had in there meaning there was a mullerlight disaster over the floor, the trolly and the person behind me's shoes.

I got told off today for putting through a red onion as a brown onion on the self scanner at asda. I just hit the wrong button and it was 2p more. My woopsied bread wouldn't scan properly and the blasted thing kept shouting for assistance. It doesn't sound very dramatic but it was at the time. I can imagine this situation was dreadful, i feel for you! tomorrow is a new day.

Thanks but Im using Tesco vs Asda for the clubcard points as Im in the christmas savers scheme so I see it that everything I spend in there is giving me money towards my xmas food shop.
I am a big fan of Asda really and shopped there every week until recently but it gets boring going to the same shop over and over

I honestly dont think Tesco is that much more expensive tho tbh as I only buy items that are on offer wherever I go! Plus the Tesco is bigger so has more choice and I can get clothes/toys bday pressies etc and is open 24hrs (and they also do the price check thing too)

Thanks peeps for sharing your tales - Im over it now!
