To be honest it cannot do anything your kettle can't. I bought one. The chocolate has no froth so may as well be a sachet and kettle job.0

could anyone tell me if the tassimo machine is worth buying or will it become another gismo that i will use once and file away?has anyone seen it cheaper than £79.99 cos i received a £20 refund voucher valid till 31/01/07 so it would be £59.99 but still have to justify £60 which may be better spent elsewhere if machine is not wonderful.many thanks for any advice.
The supermarkets will soon tire of devoting shelf space to the many competing pods/cartridges and they will die a death. Philips, Braun & whoever else knocks out the machines will be laughing all the way to the bank and Sara Lee will switch their sales force back to flogging Brylcreem & Radox.
Mug buy - avoid0 -
I got the Breville Cappuccino for xmas and I am really pleased with it. You use instant coffee, which makes it alot cheaper and you can use the coffee that you prefer. Easy to use too.
Had the best hot chocolate I ever had, makes it lovely and froathy. Think I paid about £60 for it after discounts from empire stores.0 -

as one previous poster has stated a kettle does the same job, (just doesn't look so pretty
the pods etc look so expensive too
cam you put a posting on your local freecycle group, someone in your area might have one stuck in a cupboard somewhere and be glad to give you their's?Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

To be honest I am completely shocked that these things are so popular. I mean how much effort does it take to scoop at bit of ground coffee into an espresso filter holder. They do exactly the same job.

And there are so many annoying things about people not using ground coffee:
- The first and foremost is that the quality of coffee available out there is so much better than your standard tassimo pods. You can get Illy and Lavazza from your supermarket and both are superb example of coffee that is even better than you get in Starbucks. But then you also have Whittards and a whole host of online shops that you can use to find your perfect bean. Guatemalan Elephant beans, Nicaraguan beans, and Java beans being my favourite.
- The second is that it is much cheaper to buy a packet of ground coffee. Many will say that the coffee remains fresh in the pods but if you buy a tin of Illy you can refill it with any type of coffee and store it in the freezer. That will remain fresh for months.
- And the third is that everyone of those pods that you use does further damage to the environment. It's such a waste and you lazy a%^holes should be ashamed of yourselves. For the sake of a couple of seconds you would much prefer to spend more for substandard coffee that helps ruin the environment.
I almost feel strong enough about it to start my own website protesting about it.
Get yourselves onto ebay and buy a real coffee machine. I picked up a La Pavoni ECN which costs £250 for only £50 and the coffee from that compared to the Tassimo is like the difference between instant coffee and starbucks.0 -
Do you drink a lot of other stuff besides instant coffee & tea? If not then I'd imagine it'll quickly get shelved, plus as others as mentioned the single serving sachet thingys aren't that cheap. Why not just buy a stove top for £10 and get some nice illy coffee? bootiful!0

Is everyone else's tassimo machine quite noisy. I got one for xmas and was shocked just how noisy it is or is there something not quite right with the one we have?0

Im the same! Used mine on xmas day and was surprised how noisy it is, as I remember seeing a demostration for one in a comet store and dont remember it being that noisy. But I think it must be if we have both got noisy ones, or we are both doing sumthing wrong :rotfl:0 -
it`s much cheaper to get one of those milk frothers. £2.5 for a cheap one and £8 for a powerful one. Warm the milk and froth up. Makes superb cappucinos if poured onto strong coffee, which we make in a cafetiere. Divine if you whip up real hot chocolate ie montezuma or green and blacks0
