Paypal through preloved

Used paypal loads of time through ebay.
But this time someone has asked for an item I have on preloved & asked to pay through paypal & have it posted.
Safe? I'm assuming yes as long as I post the item by recorded? (the sale price is under £50)
Thanks

Generally preloved, gumtree etc are meant to be face to face sales. Is it for something that is a common scammed item? Where do they want it sent?
I put some evening shoes on Gumtree a while ago & had a reply from someone who's Uncle was looking for exactly what I was selling & would like them posted to an African orphanage, they were going to pay extra of course.
I replied that he was welcome to buy them as long as I had a photo of said Uncle tripping through the African dust in my heels, funnily enough they didn't want them then.
It would depend on the item & where they wanted them sent, personally I would turn it down.0 -
Oh gosh no I never respond to anyone asking for items to go out of the UK. I've had the usual stories of I'd like this for such & such but they live outside the UK, I'd be willing to pay ..... (stupid amount). I just ignore it.
However this item is a purse & the person lives in Scotland.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Paypal has its own buyer protection separate from eBay which means any purchases paid for as goods and NOT as a personal payment are as fully protected as if you were buying from eBay. As a buyer I wouldn't send a personal payment to someone I didn't know. Unless you are planning to scam someone then it's safe for them, and of course if the item is worth under £46 you are protected by RM insurance on normal post. If it is worth over £46 then Special Delivery is the only option you have that is both fully tracked and insured."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Thank you, just never received a payment through paypal that hasn't been for an ebay item.
So wanted to make sure it was safe for me to accept, like they couldn't claim it was a mistake or something & then get a refund etc.
The item is for sale at £25 with £3.50 p/p 1st class recorded.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

My customers pay via paypal all the time, unless i know them and can hand the goods over in person, then they pay cash
I've never had an issue, PP offers more protection than a BT doesnt it?I'm not a bloke! :rotfl:My real name is Sinead, Sid is my nickname :rotfl:0 -

No, no, no, no, no.
BT is free, and they can't take it back.
Paypal costs money and you are open to chargebacks/Paypal take backs at any point.
See how ebay/paypal have brainwashed people into thinking the safest payment method (BT) is somehow unsafe...."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Cash on collection is not possible as the person who is interested lives 9 hours away, which of course is why they asked if it could be posted.
As its under £50, surely sending it 1st class recorded means I am then covered in terms of proving by trackable means & of course I'll keep my proof of posting.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

Assuming you are in the UK then the rules changed about 3 (maybe 4?) years ago and there is full paypal seller protection on or off ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
