I would love a second freezer! We have enough meat (lamb, poultry, ham, sausages etc) to last at least a month. I also have grapes (for wine making), stewed apples (free bramleys), rosehips (I will get round to making the syrup), HM ice cream, scones, shredded wheat loaf, pizza base dough, irish soda bread, HM soups, frozen milk, HM butter, pasta dough .. etc... etc .. etc...
It is just so full I need another one to be able to create and store some ready meals :rotfl:Enjoying an MSE OS life

I took everything out and put it in a black bin bag in the garden. Then I turned the freezer off, filled pots and pans with boiling water, put them in the freezer with the door closed for ten minutes or so then scraped all the ice off and wiped it out. It was all finished in under an hour and nothing even started to defrost.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
We also have a second freezer (lives in the garage), and it's great for bulk buying. Still, it's easy to fill 2 freezers... and still not seem to have enough space

Hence needing inventories (also cos I forget what is in the freezer and buy again...)
I am getting much better now :rolleyes:Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!

I have just done an inventory, I have enough for 23 meals (for a family of 4) and further items for soups, quiches etc. We also have bread milk and ice cream in the freezer, plus leftover christmas nibbles. My January New Year's resolution must be to only go to the shops if absolutely necessary and I am going to try and make my household budget £60 for this month and see how we do.0

Great idea angel, I think I'll do a list for the freezer and my tins 'n' packets cupboard too, then I can work out some menu plans...good job I don't have to go back to work till next Tuesday!0

I do mine every week or so just before shopping, unfortnately it's quite small so not usually many unexpected finds. Wish I had somewhere to put a second freezer as 2 bulk cooking sessions max and mines full again!
I do always plan to start with a list and cross off when used but doesn't always go to plan. Is ideal when you're trying to empty as you know exactly whats in there. One day I might be more organised...........

Every year - End of November....I have a 'food free fortnight'
Basically I try not to buy ANYTHING food wise for 2 weeks (Milk and fresh fruit excluded...)...I aim to clear as much out of the cupboards and fridge/freezer as possible....
How often do you:
1. 'find' things in the cupboard/freezer that is out of date....and end up throwing it out?
2. Keep 'looking' at something....but ALWAYS find something more appealing to eat.....?
I make a 'mental note' NEVER to buy certain things again...It works for me and ensures there is space for the Xmas eats n treats!:drool:I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Freezer inventory is something I normally do in December and I HAD to sort out the freezer in the kitchen because it was killing itself with indigestion
and since it was so cold out, nothing started to thaw out and the freezer was done in an hour. This then propmted me to go sort out the freezer in the garage.
Basically, I should be able to go a couple of months without buying any food except for milk and veg.
I am planning to only spend the tescos vouchers for the next 2 months (if I need to buy anything) and use up what I have in the freezers.Shobhna0 -
I have done mine, the freezer was pretty much out of bounds with the knowledge that pay day for January has to effectively last 5 weeks so now I know that we will eat in January, just add milk, bread, fruit and veg and the freezer will be the saviour!! xx0
