Wow! Just done a inventory of my freezer!

I've just had a freezer sort out and I'm amazed at the amount of good food lurking in there. All I'll have to buy during January is fresh fruit and veg and I'm guessing that all my Christmas overspending will be paid off with the money that I'll save. I've written it all down and I'll stick it to the freezer door so that it's easy to keep track.
Why not have a go, I feel great now! What a start to the New Year!

Already done it
And yes, you're right Angel there's enough food in my freezers to last until Easter :rotfl: It's mostly fish and meat which we're very sparing with, but there are also cooked beans in there and fruit purees from the Autumn (plum and quince). I've also got most of a 20 kilo sack of spuds left plus rice and pasta and dried peas and lentils.
So, just fresh dairy stuff, fruit and veg and flour (for bread) to buy for a long while. Don't think we're going to starve somehow :rotfl:0 -
I just came back from parents for Xmas and I was quite surprised hopw much meat weve got in the freezer. Should be able to get away with buying very little for the next week. However, I suspect the yellow labels will be out in force later, so ill make hay as they say. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

It's mainly meat and fish for me too, I'm obviously very good at wrapping it in portions and then leaving it to sit there, I need to label things better then they'll probably get used up.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

Maybe... I label everything (compulsive), and still leave it to sit there until I do a stocktake! :rotfl:Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!

Well, I don't empty mine - I just use up all the extra meals I have cooked over the last few months. I still have plenty of food to create new meals from.Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!

A few years ago I bought a second freezer and started to fill it with Morrison's BOGOFs - only bought stuff I normally would but bought in bulk. So OH always had a supply of favourite pizza etc, but I'd effectively got it for half price. The freezer paid for itself in under a year.
Have since allowed this freezer to fill up with bits and pieces and so can't do the bulk BOGOF thing any more. So before Christmas I did a stock take of the freezers, food cupboards, bathroom cupboards, cleaning cupboard and now have several long lists of stuff to use up.
As a result I don't expect to have to buy much other than milk, fruit & veg and petfood for at least the whole of January and probably most of February. I expect that there will be some rather strange combinations on the menu though
And at the end of this marathon I'll be able to go back to bulk buying.

Oh - I've worked out roughly what I'll save on my shopping in January and will be paying that amount off my mortgage at the beginning of the month so I'll HAVE to stick to storecupboard cuisine"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
I have 2 freezers, and they are both full to bursting:eek: mostly with homegrown veg and fruit, and local game, but scary nevertheless. Will have to summon up the courage to do an inventory, then mealplan etc. Not much shopping in Jan 2007!0

We only have one of those intergrated freezers and no room for a 2nd which is a real pain. It really needs defrosting but its so full its gonna be a while before its empty enough to do it0
