TRAVELEX seem to offer better rates than most of the others however you have to pick it up at the airport. We dropped someone off at our local airport the week before we left on our hols and picked it up then but on other threads about this people have had no problems with them.
If your a BA Exec member then you can get extra miles with Travelex.

I always get mine at the Post Office, their rates are good, no commission and they will change any spare currency you bring home with a good rate too,

Partly I do it because it's hassle free but their rates are very competitive too.

You can order online and collect at your local PO

  • I used https://www.onlinefx.com when buying dollars last year.
They give you a slightly higher exchange rate if you have online banking and buy using a direct bank transfer.
I had no probs with them and cash/travellers cheques were delivered registered post 24 hours later

I've heard teavelex are pretty good, though I've no experience of them.

I always go to Co-Op travel in th ehigh-street for all my holiday currency as they've always had the best rate.

However, by co-incidence, I spotted that Amex - 2 doors down from Co-Op Travel, were offering a price-match on any 'local' currency providers!

So shop around! But don't bust a gut for 1p difference unless it really means that much to you! I go by the quality of service and efficiency. On that basis, Amex do pretty poorly in my opinion.
