I'm a bit concerned now as am in exactly the same position. My EON Saveonline 2 (electric only) also finishes on 31st August. I took the decision last week to switch supplier because EON could offer me no deal anywhere near equivalent to the one I was on. I was concerned that if I waited longer, the best deals on the market would disappear. I'm disappointed to switch from EON as I've had great customer service and an electricity monitor, and I like the online graphs that show the electricity savings etc. I really would have stayed if they could have price matched or even provided a semi-equivalent trafiff. Anyhow...

I've switched to NPower 6. Am I subject to this final bill inflation as well? I think my final bill will likely fall before the end of contract as I've given 6 weeks, and presume the change will happen before then...

    Hi MsConstipatedPiggyBank

To receive the full discount applicable to a contracted tariff, you need to complete the full term of the agreement.

If your account switches to npower before 31 August, I'm afraid you'll miss out on the Saveonline 2 discount on your final bill.

Sorry I can't offer anything more positive MsConstipatedPiggyBank. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

It looks like I'm going to have to hope Npower are really slow in moving my contract! If I telephoned and asked them if they could delay switching until 1st September (not sure if this is possible), then I am assuming I'd get the full EON discount. Is that correct?

On the other hand, I've just found out that I nearly missed the Npower deal. They cut it two days after I switched, so even if you guys end up charging me a fortune on my final bill, I'm probably still saving in the long term. Not happy about this though, especially since I have been a bit of an EON fan until now. It would have been good if somebody had told me about this when I phoned to ask if there was an early cancellation fee, and I was told "no". This is really an early cancellation fee by another name, isn't it?

That's right MsConstipatedPiggyBank. If you're still our customer on 31 August then you'll receive all the discount applicable to Saveonline 2.

I noticed that you avoided responding to the point about this being a cancellation fee under another name. Fair enough. It's about reading the small print, I suppose... Am tempted to go home and switch the freezer off, but I shall probably resist.

It is a cancellation fee and one that never stops being applied no matter how long you stay with Eon. Personally I think this should be banned. It cost me £38 last time I was with Eon because I didn't read the small print properly. The thing is, I hope they make the most of that £38 because it's the last money they are ever getting off me. I won't go back to them until they change this term because it is too much palavar trying to minimise the cancellation charge when you leave.

It's good to know there are others in the same situation coming to an end of Saveonline 2. We've been with EON for several years and I have been very happy with the service we received. I like the website with the graphs etc. However I think we'll go elsewhere to save money. It is a great pity that companies don't appear to reward customer loyalty.

I'd rather that they were clear that it is a cancellation fee by another name. I feel ripped off and am much less likely to recommend them to others, which is a shame, as I've found their service to be great in the past. I'd rather they just charged a cancellation fee upfront. :(

Hi, as has already been said this is nothing new.

I have always tried to time my switches so that a get a normal bill a few weeks before my anticipated switch date and therefore any final bill is limited to 2 or 3 weeks without the discounts.

It does partly depend on how good the online accounting is with your particular supplier however.

I am not saying that I agree with it or like it but it is alwats found in the terms and conditons and I take it into account when switching.
