I know from reading for sale threads on places like AV forums that its usual to ask the original owner to get it unlocked if their selling an unwanted upgrade for example.

I don't think you can force Orange to unlocked it if they don't want to. It didn't come from them and despite what SE say I can't see them doing it (or being able to, to be honest).

    Hello

I bought an Orange SE Xperia X10 last year. I used unlocking .com to get an unlock code.

The USB charging socket broke, SE replaced it under warranty and I received another Orange locked phone so had to get it unlocked again.

As suggested above, both you and I should've had the original owner get the code before we parted with our cash!
  • I work for Orange and we will definitely only unlock the handset for the person who purchased it from us. The only way it can be done via ou systems is to send an action through the buyer's account and only that can be requested with the authorisation of said account holder. If you think about about it, anybody could phone up asking to unlock a phone but that handset potentially could've been stolen and just not reported I something similar.

Regarding accessing the codes, it can take anything up to about 2 weeks for us to receive the codes from the manufacturers. It is sent through on action which goes to a database using the IMEI and we receive the code for that handset.
