Legally there is nothing stopping you from a refund if they agree to refund you the full amount of the receipt.

There is nothing that can stop them from reselling it to you at the new price.

If the seller refuses to sell to you then you can make a complaint and ask why it was not sold, and you can make a big deal of it, but the seller does hold the right (to some extent) to who it wants to sell a item to.

Go back in a little later or tell a friend to pick it up for you. record the attendant on your camera phone if they are not selling you something if it is a big store then they will get told off.
I have done this and sent the recording in an email, and noted that it was a public area and therefore I recorded, the company was nice enought to follow it up, and gave me a discount and also the option to buy the product at the discount price.

That's a bit harsh isn't? The poor sales assistant might have lost their job. Could you not have made your point less drastically?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
  • the sales assistant is under no obligation to resell it immediately,

where i worked if someone had a refund on item A and it was reduced if they wanted to buy another one (exactly the same item no difference in size or colour) then they would have to get it from the shop floor, we were not allowed to hand it straight back to be bought at the lower price

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience

    No it was not.

In the great tradition of the great British pantomime, "Oh yes it was." ;)

Unless said company was trading from a market stall, it was private property.

How about you let us in on your interpretation of a public/private place, because from what I understand a public place is where the public have general access to. Or are you under the often misunderstood premise, that just because the property is owned by a private individual or corporation, it can't be a public place?

I assume they reserve the right to refuse admission to anybody?

 Of course they can, I didn't realise that point was in contention.

Well tbh that is what I was basing my assertion on. That and that fact that had one of the great unwashed started pestering me with a camera phone when I worked in a shop, they would have been barred.
