Hi all can anyone recommend any removals companies in Essex we are moving from Aveley to Westcliff 25 miles. We got one quote for £750 seems high, will pack ourselves and only have a 2 bed house. I have emailed moveme for quotes too.

    Thanks.

Try Inline Removals. Not sure they cover the area, but worth a try. Have used them 3 times. Been great every time.

  • Recommendations England to Scotland

Can anybody recommend a removal company from England (Essex) to Scotland (Ayrshire). Or a Company that we could hire a lorry from (my husband holds an HGV licence). Know it won't be cheap, but need to do it as cheaply as possible.

Hi. We're moving from Battersea (SW London) to Worcester - from a 3 bed house to a 4. i'd like to be quoted with and without packing. Any recommendations/suggestions? (The Rocketvan site is down for repairs at the minute).

It says on there they're having a new site built.

I recommended them to a friend a couple of weekends ago, they were very pleased. (They moved from Fulham to Chippenham).

Otherwise ask family and friends for recommendations.

If any of you are doing small moves you could rent a van and do it yourself, can work out cheaper. Was OK when we moved although we didn't have a huge amount of stuff, hard work if you have!

We recently used Burke & Wills who were great and local (based in Earlsfield I believe)

GB Liners are well regarded and are a national but are more expensive.

    Cheers

I own a removal company. I mention that so you can see I'm speaking from a professional standpoint.

Look on the website of the British Association of Removers for companies that have the backing of a reputable Trade Association that inspects its members and has a Code of Practice and Terms and Conditions that the OFT is happy with.

Ask around locally. Don't be tempted by the cheapest simply because it's cheapest. False economy is no economy. The best way to cut costs is to get a good remover and ask them how you can work with them to cut the cost. Remember, everything they do is based on manhours. If you can pack properly, dismantle and reassemble beds yourself, get everything prepared thoroughly, you can reduce the required time. Ask how. If you can do it properly, you can reduce the cost, but only if you do some of the work that will make it quicker for the remover to do their part.
