Find out who the insurer was,go for them and if they say no,the FOS can help you.newbyteacher wrote: »looks like im not going to get anywhere the card was issued 2001:(

Hi I have one in with the FOS in regards of the insurer/underwriter, mine was a pre 2005 sale and the broker dissolved.
What I did was request for the PPI policy booklet details from the lender, as these are not always provided with the copies of your loan documents and are generally requested for when required.
The details of the insurer/underwriter are on the policy details, you then pursue them as you would with a broker, if this fails then the FOS will consider taking this one, as they would have been regulated.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

This is so interesting Thank you for posting
I am still in the middle of claiming PPI from what originally was a BHS store card.
which became a BHS credit card & now June 2014 has became Barclycard Mastercard !! confused me too !!
I wrote to BHS Credit card they said NO nothing to do with them it s Barclays Bank PLC you need to contact
I wrote to Barclays Bank !! not us either write to Santander
I wrote to Santander they just wrote back and said not them either
FOS are involved and are a little helpful but not what i was expecting as the first time of contacting them they through it out it only my persistance that they have took the case up again
The card is at least 22 Years old and i dont have any paperwork from that long ago although i have never stopped using or closed the account which i supposed is one good thing
Any Advise loosing the will to carry on on my own with it should i be instructing a company to help !!
i Have already been succseful on four other cards so thought i knew what i was doing but this one is a massive struggle

Claims companys do what you do yourself, they do no more.
You're having a massive struggle because BHS originally sold you the card. and they weren't regulated when you bought it.
Having the PPI is not bad in itself, it's the sale that's important and that long before regulation, you'll be beyond lucky if you get anything back.
Just because the company was bought out it doesn't mean they bought the liability, and the FOS won't help because it's pre regulation.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
