bhs/ge capital/santander

Good morning all. I am hoping I can tap into this wealth of knowledge forum as I am confused!
Basically between 1993 and 2004 i was employed by BHS part of my job was to promote storecards( i refused as i disagreed with the whole process) anyway, sometime during my employment my staff discount card was replaced with a BHS Goldcard( then run by GE CAPITAL ) this was not a choice for staff If we wanted to keep our 20 percent disount we had to have the storecard. But we HAD to have the ppi cover or else we couldnt have the card. I remember very clearly the admin manager stating this.
Obviously we all opted for this but very reluctantly. Can i make a claim ? I still have the original documents. If so who do I send my claim to? Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks

    Hi There,

yes you can put a complaint in and having all the original doc's will just help things along, remember to copy these as they have a habbit of going missing!

have a read here and see if any or all of these reasons may be added to your complaint/mis-sell

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step2

then download a questionnaire from here

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step3

once downloaded, have a read though it, getting all the info you need and reasons etc. fill it in and send it off, simples :D

    and good luck ;):D

you will have long battle to try and get any money back now. due to the length of time the card has been closed, it may be unlikely that they hold your statements along with the premiums you paid towards it. do you still have your statements?

Also GE Capital were not regulated at the time and they dont come under FOS jurisdiction. they will simply dismiss your complaint and refer you to the finance and leasing assoication (FLA)
  • the account is not closed, i cant use it but it still has a small balance ,
thanks for the replies so far :)
  • Who do I send it to please as the account was taken over by santander last year.

I worked on the complaints team at GE Money when the card change happened. We were advised of the changeover "just in case" but I do know that the terms of the card, e.g the PPI being compulsory was set by BHS. GE Money were told by BHS what terms the accounts were having. This is how it worked with all their cards. The companies set their own terms with regards to insurance, benefits etc and GE Money just administered the finance of the accounts.

It may therefore be worth copying in the HR department at BHS.

yes santander, sorry i misunderstood the dates, when did you take it out? if it was prior to 14/1/05 they will dismiss it, if its after they will issue proper response as its under FOS jurisdiction.
