Talk Talk or Pipex?????

My contract with NTL runs out on the 27th of next month Hooray!!!! and i am swapping to another provider as their customer services are appauling along with other issues i have with them i wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I have searched for other providers and found pipex and talk talk are the cheapest and offer the same deal. Now i just wondered which people would recommend if they have had any dealings with either of them.

Thanks

I am with Pipex. Their customer service used to be fantastic but not any more.
Don't seem to get replies to my emails for example and when I recently upgraded the guy on the other end of the phone didn't seem to have seen their major advertising campaign with Mr Hasselhoff, as he knew nothing of the packages that were on offer.
I have only had one technical issue in the last 3 years with them and it was sorted within a week. Wasn't their problem, BT issue but they were helpful, but that was in the old days.
Having said that I would not go anywhere near Talk Talk.

Martin MSE says this about Talk Talk .

"Overall my summary is that if you want a guaranteed hassle-free speedy broadband connection, don't use TalkTalk. Yet as it's hugely price competitive, if cost is your priority and you can cope with the risk of some delay - go for it"

  • Stay away from Pipex is my advice!

You may have seen from other threads on here that I hate, without compromise, Pipex, and their dimwitted customer Service morons!

My saga is that I moved house last month and called Pipex to change my details and get me BB in my new pad, on the 16th november. So, the (rather pleasant and helpful) female rep told me it would take 7-10 days for this process. Reasonable, I thought!

After 14 days, there was still no connection so I rung up again and explained. The guy i spoke to said i was given duff information and that it would take 30 days, hence 16th december. i waited till the 18th and rang back, and was told by a buffoon to "Just wait for it to come on, it'll probably be within the next few days, hey, it may even be tonight!"

So I rang back a few days later as I was still tamping mad, and the guy I spoke to put me on hold, COS HE WAS LISTENING TO A JOKE!!!! I could hear his colleagues start to tell one, and he subsequently put me on hold for 5 minutes (luckily i used saynoto0870 and the call was free). The only info he could provide me with was that it was due to start sometime in the next week, but after the initial 30 days, there is another 7-10 days where it connects!! None of this i was told in November BTW!!

So, its now day 43, 3 days after the LATEST date the broadband could have been connected and I am still without a connection!!

I have sent emails to pipex Customer services (pathetic) and even got on to ofcom now cos its getting all a bit silly. I'm fed up of ringing pipex, telling the idiots there the story, then have them fob me off with some BS, all cos they know naff all about anything there. Its so annoying to be in this situation and no one is able to do anything for you. I've asked on here if anyone knows an email address of one of their directors cos CS dont have the 1st clue.

Stay away from Pipex, i aim to muddy their name (although a lot of people do the job just as well)

That said, who do you go with these days thats good, AND reasonable!!??

    WWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I must say chrispy this is what worries me.

As I said in my post a few years back I had a problem, which they were great about. However now their CS seems to be worse than useless, so I am dreading ever having a problem. They used to be so highly recommended, but will be looking aournd carefully in the coming months

I have heard bad reports about everyone but i must say i have seen more bad reports about talk talk than pipex.

I personally wouldn't recommend NTL to anyone but i'm sure some people think they are good.

I never thought swapping would be so hard.

There are a few bad reports of orange on here but im with them and am reasonably happy.I have only ever lost connection due to a faulty modem but apart from that- no problems.Im paying £12.99 per month for basic access but their unlimited package(£19.99 per month) with free international calls looks good.....Neil
