i bought one of these from pc world yesterday on about first 5 attempts with the crappy aerial provided i found no channels. i tried with another decent enough aerial and found nothing again. was going to put back in box and return it but instead i shut down the program and retried it. i got 51 channels this time, unforuanatewly i did not save this list and had to redo a scan. Finally i tried a plain wire aerial with no fancy boosters, just placed it at the window and got about 68 channels with good reception.
just to note i live in an area where freeview is pretty poor and usually stutters etc we have tried many aerials as we couldnt use the roof aerial so im amazed this works properly.
my advice is to keep trying and use varios aerials if possible0 -
i read all your posts..thks to all of you...YES, 4everonline, is online but my emails are setup to check emails every 30 mins....which i just saw..i am not sure but i may have made a mistake reading the ebay ad. is the bottom line that none of us have a solution to this ? however, i HAVE tried connecting this device to my main roof aerial but still no signal AT ALL. so the good news is my money's down the drain...is it ? well, i shall try and ask for a refund if possible...0

Well your rooftop aerial may not be any good for Freeview, as in some areas, the digital signals are out of band i.e. a completely different set of frequencies to the analogue signals. Which is your local transmitter? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I also have one very similar to this
and found the small aerial to be totally useless. I now have it linked to our roof top aerial and can receive 87 channels but for the life of me I cannot get BBC1 or BBC2. Our freeview box on the same aerial does pick up BBC1 and BBC2.

Does the supplied ariel have a magnetic base? I got one for Christmas, and I thought it was useless, until I discovered that I could stick the ariel to a radiator and get a perfect reception. An ironing board also works, but not quite as well as the radiator.0

I have bought several USB freeview sticks but none of them picked up any signal, now I think that they all work the same, it's just the crappy aerial they come with.. Does attaching the magnet to a radiator really work?!?! Also, do you guys think purchasing an indoor freeview aerial would help (It's too much for me to put an aerial on the roof) thanks for help, ash.0

The radiator genuinely worked. I was surprised myself! It is as good as attaching the dongle to an outside aerial.0

right, underneath the provided small aerial there is a magnet...i do not know how to find the local transmitter though in my area. i did visit that link but all the details there flew above my head...0
