She doesn't have a collar? Then I'm not really sure how you expected people to know she has owners, most people don't have microchip scanners at home!
Try not to get too upset about it, cats aren't like dogs, lots of them just don't form that much of an attachment to 'home', and its much better that strangers are being kind to your cat than some of the alternatives.0

good luck, if you want them to stop feeding her though it might be worthwhile attaching a note saying she is on a special diet please do not feed.
i had the weirdest dream that our eldest cat came home last night (sha has been missing for several months now but i sonly around 5yrs) i dreamed she turned up in a removal van for some reason lol. i just hope some one is feeding her but i doubt it very much as she was quite ferral when we took her in 3 yrs ago and doesnt really like other people, she is micro chipped though so maybe someday we might get her backnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

If a cat is not wearing a collar please do not assume the owners are at fault.
My cat has had a number of collars but always comes back in without them. I simply cannot afford to keep throwing money away in this way.
He is microchipped and so far always comes home at night but the lack of a collar does not mean a lack of care!

I have found the best way to get my cat to come in at night is to withold food after about 4pm so he comes to the sound of the box being shaken! Works every time.:T0

Don't worry flossy, I don't think no collar means the owners don't care, but it makes it understandable that people who meet the cat wouldn't assume there is an owner, that's all. It means that owners shouldn't get angry at strangers for feeding their cat, especially when you consider what awful things people sometimes do to wandering cats instead.0

So glad I found this post....
My cat Storm was a rescue cat who I got in 2006, I moved home and she came with me, would never venture outdoors even if the door was left open.
Time went on and I met my OH and moved in with him, Storm started wanting to go out into the yard and she did, then she ventured in to the back ally and eventually would go out over night always coming back.
Last Feb we bought our own house with a lovely big garden, we kept her in for 4 weeks and then let her venture, she stayed in the garden at 1st however started to go further-a-field, her adventures lasting 3-4 days so we didn't worry as she always came back for a few days/weeks.
About 2 months ago she went out and after 5 days I started to fret, after 1 week I was really upset as she manages to take off her collars however was microchipped so spoke to the vets and registered her as missing. After 12 days she sauntered back in but not the same cat, she must have been trapped somewhere as she was skinny and scared. We fed her, gave her lots of attention and kept her in the house for almost 2 weeks however she was begging to get out.
We let her out and she didn't come back for over a week again, I must point out we bought her a new collar and she arrived back minus the collar, ate some food and cried to get out again. She had gone out again and came back a few days later, healthy obviously well fed, snubbed the tuna we gave her and wouldn't purr when we stroked her. She also sniffed and explored round the house like it was all new to her.
My thinking is she has found a new home, I have it in my head now that she isn't going to come back and I am happy for her if she has found a new home but also really gutted as she is my baby, I don't have children so she is like my child.
I think cats are really selfish sometimes

The 'stray' one is sitting on the mat outside my front door and it's raining! My old boy has hissed at her when he's seen her outside so don't think I can bring her in. What to do as her 'owner' seems to not know her and vice versa and she runs off every time she sees him. The rescue homes are full...any ideas?! Always been able to re-home any strays that have gravitated my way before but things seemed to have changed.0

I have to say, as unpopular as this may be, I don't agree with the whole 'Cat's choose their owners'...etc.
If they get fed somewhere else, they will keep going back. If that person just doesn't feed them in the first place, then the cat will end up going home.
 Cat's are oppurtunists!0
