Wireless broadband cuts out - making a phonecall fixes it?

Since I fitted the filter it has only lost connection once so it's better than it was yesterday. I only have one phone plugged in - it's cordless and I never use it - the line is very crackly - could that be a sign of a problem. Should I try another phone?
It was happening a couple of times a week but yesterday it was every 10 mins.0 -
can you do the quiet line test? Unplug everything except the phone (including the microfilter), and dial 17070. Choose the quiet line test option, and you shouldn't hear any noise on the line. If you do, report it to your phone provider as a voice fault (don't mention bb at the mo) and give them chance to sort the voice fault out. If they do, chances are high that it will cure the bb fault. If not, then is the time to report a bb fault.
It's a bit long-winded, but it's the right way to do it
p.s. the quiet line test is best performed with a corded phone, if you can borrow one for 5 mins..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Thankyou I will grab a cordless phone from my dads house and try it tomorrow x0

Might have helped if you mentioned noise on the line from the outset...classic indication of a line fault, that also affects the broadband side. GunJack's test will reveal all.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Sorry - like I said i'm a bit thick when it comes to things like this and I didn't even think it could be a factor until I read some of the responses x0 -

I hope you meant a CORDED phone, not a cordless
The point of a corded phone is that it eliminates any form of wireless interference from being a factor, and this is why bt engineers always carry one around for testing purposes......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

We have the opposite problem. When someone makes a phonecall it boots the internet off.:o2019 Wins

check all microfilters are in place..[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Hi,
Just as an update the internet has been dropping a lot still I have tried resetting the router again and it works ok for a bit and then has a bad spell again. I did the quiet line test but only on my cordless, couldn't find anyone to lend me a corded phone. There was inteference should I report this now or try and get a corded phone and try it again before I do. Another thing is I don't have a BT master socket I have looked all around the house and I only have one phone socket in the kitchen and it's not a master socket?? Could that be the problem.
I had the broadband going into the socket through an extension lead but I have now plugged the filter directly into the socket. Whether that will make a difference I don't know.
Shall I wait until I have tested again and reported the line fault until I try anything else. Or should I try this changing wirelss channels now? Is that easy to do?0
