*EDIT* My bad, I went through iConvey.co.uk and not iconveyencer, seems these are 2 completely different companies! Will leave my response any incase others are confused.
I am using them at the moment. IMO (FTB) they are not bad at all. I had looking at 1 local, 1 distance and then went to iConvey and leading up to me selecting one they were by far the most helpful and they came in cheaper too. They were not significantly cheaper. One was actually several hundred pounds cheaper than them. They are not actually called iConvey they, BPL Solicitors (bplaw.co.uk) and are run out of Dorset. My sister in law is also using them currently and neither of us have had any issues, in fact I say opposite, they are always helpful on the phone and I always get quick responses from them and as first time buyers they educate us about the process as we go along. Our case is tracked online but we can phone them when ever we want. I think most of the grunt work is all done by paralegals which may make them cheaper?0 -
We agreed our sale on 16 May, joining a chain with only one other transaction in it. Nearly five months later we are still awaiting exchange of contracts. Our purchasers are using iConveyancer Ltd.0

I'm afraid I treat every company that puts a lower-case "i" in front of a name as a crude approximation to Apple's technique with an equal amount of contempt......0

I am a newbie here, but wanted to warn everyone about Iconveyancer.
A long story short ---simply avoid them. Infact they have gone into Administration on 16 Dec 2011 - They still owe me money and documents...dont know where to go and how to sort out things.0 -

Your initial instruction documents should set out who the firm were regulated by - either the SRA or Council of Licensed Conveyancers (I think).
Look up on their website for details of what to do next.0 -
Limited company too - now if that was not a warning to clients, as much as a name as far removed from an association with a solicitor as you might get
TimmyT, I'm not sure what your concern is with a limited company? My firm is a Limited Company...we are authorised and regulated by the SRA and have two solicitor directors. It is a perfectly acceptable corporate structure for a firm of solicitors, simply because the majority of firms are Partnerships or (more commonly) LLPs does not mean Ltd companies are dangerous!0 -
In response to 'typed a big post and lost it'happened to me too, several times, sort it out MSE!
Type your post out in Notepad or another text editor, then copy/paste it in to MSE when you open the reply window.
Or type out your reply in MSE, then Copy it to the clipboard before you hit 'Reply' - then if you've been typing too long and been logged out, you can login, reply, and paste it back into the reply window.....
Sort it out yourself.0 -
Hi FX-3 and anyone else affected by iConveyancer
I recently tried to contact them re the outstanding completion paperwork on an investment property I purchased using them as my conveyancer. Ordinarily you wouldn't have to chase a Conveyancer for that info, as they've nearly always sent it automatically, but given how slow they could be in responding to enquiries I tried to chase them up this week. The tel no wouldn't connect, and even though they did have an online presence, whenever you tried their site, it clearly had been removed from the net. That's when alarm bell started ringing and I did a little Googling and found the thread here.
You're right that they have in fact gone into Administration. The Insolvency Practitioner handling it are called Begbies Traynor, Tel: 0113 237 5560. I think the contact I spoke to is called Daniel. He was very helpful and said that he is in contact with a former employee named Chris Jones, who was my contact at iConveyancer. I gave him all my details and he said he would get Chris to contact me. As I said, I'm only waiting for paperwork really, they didn't end up owing me any money re the purchase, which is a relief. I've been assured that if they hadn't paid over the completion funds then my mortgage would not have started, which it has. I've diarised a reminder to make sure I follow it up if I don't here from him, so hoping it all goes to plan.
Sorry to hear that they owe you money, but hopefully the Administrators will be able to help.

I saw your post regarding iConveyancer today - felt comforted that I can write to someone who is going through the same situation as myself and maybe we could share some info which might be of help to each other and others on this forum.
Regarding mycase, I too have completed the sale and have got the mortgage and property posession, but the property is still not registered at Land Registry on my name. So I am just wondering how bad this situation is -Does it seem similar to leaving a £10 note on road and hoping its yours and no one will pick it or am I worrying too much about potential fraud. Am also not sure if there is a time frame by when the property should be transferrred to my name?
Like yourselves, I too received an email from Chris Jones and also spoke to Daniel - but thats all. I havent heard from both of these men since last 7 working days, so its making me all the more irritated and helpless regarding what to do as this was the first property I had purchased.
Now I am wondering what are my options - can I complain anywhere or any arm-twisting advise which could help me.
As of now I am not even focussing on the money part but am trying to get atleast the File/documents related to my property from these guys so that some other solicitor cold help me - but so far no luck .
Thanks
FX-30
