Who are Travelex (as their Passport Globe Card) backed by?

With companies going bust right left and centre it's odd that no-one on here has asked this.

Is this one of the reasons why they aren't in the list of Martin's recommendations, as the card might be risky?

I couldn't think of anything worse than loading all your spending money onto a card and then the company going bust.

With that in mind can you load up using a credit card? That would at least provide some protection.

Edit: R. Raphael & Sons plc engaged in private banking amongst other things.

Why don't you just read the T&C and tell us, instead of kicking up a fuss before you have done so?

You'll probably find that even if you can load using a credit card they'd treat it as a cash advance (like they would if you buy currency with it), for which there's usually a charge and immediate interest.

So it'd probably be cheaper to cut out the middleman and use the credit card for your spending/cash withdrawals instead of loading up a pre-paid card! Some credit cards (eg the Clarity, Santander Zero) are better value that any pre-paid cards anyway.

Lol get a grip. Kicking up a fuss? If you can't handle a simple question I suggest you seek professional help. If you get upset by a simple question that you didn't need to respond too, again I suggest you seek help. Enjoy your day.

So, once again...have you read the T&Cs or are you incapable?

The Travelex ones i found hiding at the bottom of the website. They popup and state the card is issued by R. Raphael & Sons plc which appears to be a private bank engaged in all sorts of things.

Hiding? Where do other websites put their T&Cs??

Same group as ICE. Either way it isn't the reason why it isn't included, since they do include the common or garden Cash Passport. That is also issued by the same bank.

Perhaps you should correct your edit. You found the answer because you were prompted by stilltheone. The T&Cs were never hidden.

Either way, do some research and let us know what you find.

The way you write is as if there is some kind of mystery.

    Weird.
