Hello.
I was first contacted by Fredrickson International confirming that this was my current place of residence. I was weary at first as had only found negative feedback regarding the company.
I eventually decided to call FI to see whether it was a legitimate bill\ service that had been provided to me.
After contacting FI it was established that they are working on behalf of Vodafone Limited RF regarding a 18 month contract taken out in June 2011. This was a shock to me as the last contact that I had with Vodafone was upon cancelling the contract two months after its expiry.
As far as I am aware, the phone representative apart from tirelessly trying to sell me another contract/phone instructed me that I could cancel my direct debit and that the contract had been cancelled. Moved address shortly after and therefore thought nothing more of it.
The next letter I received was ”LETTER BEFORE ACTION” stating that I owed £185.50 and that that would increase with court fees (£15) and solicitor fees(£50).
I did not understand where this debt had come from and why Vodafone would have my contract active/seeking payment.
Explained to FI that I would need time to contact Vodafone regarding the issue and was given a holding period on the account; Be aware that FI may send out automated mail either whilst on hold or as soon as it has expired, Including from their solicitors.
Called Vodafone with little luck and referred to many departments. They will not/can not transfer between departments so many phone calls were required . I was eventually told that they did not have me on their system ,because I had been passed onto debt recovery, and that furthermore I would have to go into a Vodafone shop to get any information.
I explained the situation to FI, That I would need more time to get to a Vodafone shop in order to try and sort out the reasons the company feels I owe them money, and got another short extension.
It was around this time I received a letter from Bryan Carter solicitors (assumed to be part of FI). Implying that I had 14 days to make payment in full or they would recommend “proceedings be issued” This time £185.50 that would increase by Court fees (£25) and solicitor fees (£50).
I was assured By a representative of FI that this was an automated Response mailed and would not be in line with where we were with the situation as I have been in contact etc, I was given more hold time in order to get to a Vodafone shop to find out why they think I owe money.
Whilst in the Vodafone shop there seemed to be a few members of staff who were free to assist me in my issue, I explained the situation(and Debt recovery). I also explained that I had no luck from previous phone calls and was told that they could not do anything to help; Was given a piece of till receipt and one of the members of staff circled the Billing contact number and sent me on my way. As I did not originally take out the contract with Vodafone, I was told I had to deal with Phones4U. No further help.
I proceeded to go to a Phones4U store which in my opinion were much more helpful with regards to the issue, my debt seemed much more important to their staff, I was offered a seat, talked through the issue with a member of staff who called up Vodafone on my behalf and after many calls and many more departments got through to someone who managed to get my account information.
It turns out that they had recycled my number and had given it to a business account. The issue was handed to a “Back of house manager” who was meant to give me more details and contact me within a few days.
I received three text messages from Vodafone saying they had tried to call (with no missed calls), the third saying that “we have had to close the case but if you need further assistance please call 191 to discuss your account. Thank you”.
Then called FI to explain that no contact had been made, FI then said they would put the account on permanent hold whilst Vodafone got back to them. They got back to FI and insisted that I owe the money (as they would).
As you can imagine.it is difficult to get answers. Running around in circles. Especially when you have to ask questions about who has the answers. Some of the answers even beg more questions.
The next and Most recent Letter States that Vodafone Limited RF has registered a default on my credit file, I obviously felt that this issue was on permanent hold, Both FI and Vodafone have taken steps to escalate this issue without contact with me.
I am wondering If anyone could give me some advice on what steps I should take, I realise that I should have made sure to document all contact with FI , and that contact should have been in writing.
I feel that services Vodafone assumes they provided were not, and that I have not been dealt with fairly in terms of honesty regarding letters from FI as I do not know which ones are automated/accurate. I have still, at this stage had no personal contact with Vodafone regarding my account.
This issue has had a negative personal effect on both myself and my partner.
Currently have a weeks hold on the account.
If anyone knows what steps I should be taking to make a complaint against both of these companies please let me know or point me in the right direction, also what the next steps FI will take after the hold has expired.
Thank you very much.0 -

WOW !! INCREDIBLE !!!
Dealing with mobile phone companies can be a complete nightmare.
If I was you, I would write down EVERYTHING that has happened, to the last detail, and keep it safe.
Then submit a complaint to the ombudsman, details here :

Hey,
I am looking for some advice and would be grateful to anyone that could provide it.
My sister who is living in the UK has received a phone call from Frederickson International. They were trying to get in contact with me. They would not say what it was about, saying that it was confidential. I believe that this could be about a Vodafone contract I had signed in 2012 since I could have given my sisters number at the time since I had just moved to the UK. My intention going into Vodafone had been to get a one year contract as I was only staying in the UK for that long. It is possible however that I misunderstood and the contract has a roll on effect in the case that I did not cancel it.
I now live in the EU and they have asked me through my sister to get in contact with them. Is this something I should do? At this point I have no idea what this could be. Could be nothing but considering the source... As I understand it, they do not have any of my contact details but I would hate it if they started bothering my sister. Perhaps another option could be to contact Vodafone directly first?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
