I agree ignore ignore ignore and IF they write to you : Ask for proof - honestly if you see my posts they had me so scared andwouldnt send me proof and then ignored my complaint so I complained again - then they sent me a one line letter saying 'this debt has now been returned' no doubt one day another DCA will contact me and i will repeat the process. But they are texting at the minute not writing so dont pick up the phone or give them a thing - if you talk to these companies they will bully you. you will be ok - i know how horrible it feels when you start getting contact from these contacts.

Thank you for your replies...I am trying to sort things out but I am only 26 and I dont want to just go bankrupt and destroy my chances of getting a mortgage and things in the future!! And then having things like that text on top make it even worse!!! Anyway, thanks again

Dont worry bakruptcy is a last resort give the national debtline a ring - they can give advice (make sure its them and not a profit making company with a similar name). There are things like debt relief orders and debt management plans. Dont ever talk to debt Collection agencies as they are impossible to deal with and just make any debt feel 1000x worse (and also they have no more rights then anyone else but act like the are court baliffs which they are not as I have learnt). You will be ok - there is tons of advice on this website.

Hi Lianne – I got a few messages from them last month which I ignored as I have no “bad” debt that I know of and I double checked my Experian Credit report that showed nothing un towards that could explain why they wanted to talk to me.

They then called me and asked for my first name but with my boyfriends surname (we don’t live together and obv aren’t married so I was pretty confused!) and I said that there was no one by that name at this number. They then asked me to confirm my address, I said that unless they could provide me with EXACT details about why they were calling (not just a vague explanation about a “personal” matter), I would, most definitely not be giving them any of my personal information.

I haven’t heard back from them since then. I, like you was worried at first, but as others have advised on this forum, if they have any exact and accurate details (which is unlikely), they will send you a letter (containing the exact details of the supposed debt – if it just asks you to contact them, and doesn’t contain any accurate figures or dates, ignore it) rather than trying to contact you with vague texts / phonecalls.

If you want to put your mind at rest, check your credit report online. This will tell you who, if anyone, you owe money to.
AND if they call you don’t give them any personal info or confirm any details with them.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had a skeleton letter that my sister can send to Fredrickson International to remove her telephone number and address from there records? I used to live there but no longer do and they are harassing her, they keep saying they will remove her number but dont!!

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls and I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine. Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company may be recorded and used in evidence and I expect this harassment to cease immediately.

Print your name, don't sign the letter. Chances are they have a valid agreement, but they need to tell you where this extra £340.00 has come from.
