Not with this amount of beer, I don't think there will be any hunting and gathering unless it is sitting outside the cave ready.

so you want something cheap and something that can be started now so you'll have minimal prep to do nearer Christmas??

    *thinking cap on*

I don't know you *that* well. Any skills I can take into consideration??

I can paint, draw, cook, bake, sew and NIM is handy with a hammer. I can't grow anything, they get suicidal. I can't crochet or knit (sadly, I actually have a pattern I REALLY want knitting but there is no way I could do it which is a shame as it would be a perfect Christmas present for someone). I'm starting a glass in stained glass window making in 2 weeks but it may be a little obscure to send people windows.

The cost of some things does concern me too, I wonder if people would guess if I buy jams/chutneys etc from the supermarket and put my own label on the jar?! ;)

I'm definitely doing the boxes of cards though, I need to get my massive stash down to a reasonable level so I love the idea of using stuff up, although the hoarder in me dies a little whenever I use the last of something! :rotfl: I've just made a batch of 'luxury' cards from bits of old/broken jewellery that I've had sitting around for years... but of course I'm now left with a pile of cards that are too pretty to give away! :o

I think that my weekly planners will go down a treat too, dead easy and cheap as well! Cheap A4 frame from discount shop, a bit of messing on the computer to make a list of days and some lines to write on (and of course some prettifying) and a cheap dry-wipe pen. We use ours all the time and everyone who sees it thinks that it is a genius idea!

They do actually sound like a really good idea. I'll have to make a note of that and if not nab for anyone else, certainly for us.

Either a suicidal chicken or a deep fried one in a box kindly left there by a nice threadie. Better hope for the suicidal chix tbh.

Not sure if NIM will be able to MS this weekend as he has my cold, really hope he kicks it quicker than I did as we're going to struggle with another month with very little MS money coming in.

I can gamble with blocked sinuses. :D

And if I'm feeling really smart, might try making cuff-links with Lego cubes/Lego men! :)

D got me a few sets of cufflinks like that, they are pretty awesome tbh.

D covered most of that off, she is one of the best cooks on the planet (yes ladies the way to a mans heart is really through his stomach). I'm pretty good with DIY stuff generally, except the painting decorating bit. Plaster is evil...:eek:

They just melt in different ways so each one is unique.

This made me cry. How can you melt down something worth so much. Good quality vinal is worth big money girls. The market is actually quite big. My old man, former DJ, has a collection insured for 6 figures and theres nowt particularly rare in it.

Long story short, don't melt records

Haha, I was just going to say make sure you don't melt any classics from your Mum and Dad's collection, Birdie :rotfl: Starnac thanks for that amazing link to good old Martha. I just got a sewing machine and fancied a few projects I could murder :o I'm not planning on giving away any for Christmas though, they would be unfortunate souls to receive them!! The slippers looked really cool.

For my wedding we got a hand bound book, which was two books we loved bound together upside down, so each cover was a front cover. All the strings of the book were brought around the front and embroidered in. Amazing! I wish I had a few of those cool skills. All my family are craft or good cooks, I'm the novice!

Hey Ladies, for jams and chutneys, do you have any local veg shops or markets nearby? Around our way the shops sell really ripe fruit and veg for £1 per big silver bowl. Really cheap and perfect for chutney or jam making.

I'll be checking that any records I melt are worthless before sticking them in the oven don't worry!

Lara, twas me who linked to Martha ('cos I love her and when I grow up I want to be like her... just not with the stint in jail! ;)), which projects are you thinking of doing? Have you got a photo of that handbound book? Can't quite picture it! :o That reminds me of a tutorial I've got bookmarked at home of a bag made out of an old hardbark book, it looks brill! :)

After I had a go at OH about raining on my parade the other night he has slapped himself out of his funk and is actually getting excited/interested in the holiday; made me laugh last night as I showed him the plan of attack and after looking at it for a few minutes and furrowing his brow he said, 'But when do we go to Disney World?'
'Errr, 4 of the parks and 2 water parks are Disney World. It's a massive world of fun, not just one park'.
'But I want to see the big parade'
'There's a parade at every park, we'll see them all'
'But I want to see the big one. And the fireworks'
'Again... there are fireworks at all (well, 3 of) the parks and we'll see them all'
'But you know what I mean. The big ones! With the castle thing'
'Ahhhh so basically you mean you want to go to the Magic Kingdom?'
'Errrr... Yes? I think I need to read your book!' :rotfl:

Right, fresh homemade soup, no additives or preservatives. Varied flavours made with seasonal vegitables. How much would you be willing to pay for a bowl of the stuff to have a hot lunch at work? Assume your not an MSE'r and that you do actually buy lunch at work sometimes obviously, I know none of us would do such a thing.
