Hurdler's Race to be Mortgage-Free

That sounds like a pretty cool activity for a weekend, Hurdler, not sure what the problem is
Your forward planning sounds well thought out, better to know how the budget will/won't stretch for a month than to just assume so.
Have a good Sunday - I assume you'll be arranging cutlery? :rotfl:0 -
Oh and I have lost half a stone !!!
Well done :T.
Rock n rolling the freezer here too.

Ohhhh you KNOW how I love me a good spreadsheet - what a corking idea!
I use a spreadsheet on my iPhone and normally have to meander round with the iPhone to check! [/scampers off to see put a new worksheet in the existing file and move to Dropbox]edinburgher wrote: »That sounds like a pretty cool activity for a weekend, Hurdler, not sure what the problem is

Wowser - well it turned out to be quite an expensive shop but the cost is covered by my not dipping into my weekend burn funds at all this month, so that takes care of that bill.
Despite making my list... I ended up with ingredients for 3 or 4 of the soups (although I bought the baby-est of baby white cabbages so I can afford to leave that one until next fortnight!)
So ... I'll use up some ex BBQ stuff as lunch and tea on Tuesday before tennis, which will free up enough space for 3 frozen batches of soup.
I'll have to make inroads into various packets of things that all have been opened and have one grillable thingy left - that will make some more space.
Why is it that all my more expensive householdy things all choose the same time to run out.. can't they stagger themselves a bit better?
Right after all that exertion - I deserve a bit of a break before tackling the finances [/shudder]...- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

Not a great day - my best from Uni lost his father today, and my client told me that he has put things on hold to do other projects so no income next month from writing.
Bit annoyed because he had previously talked about giving me more editorial control or maybe even leasing the site off him.
Sometimes it feels like he just got bored of it.
Anyway - will see what (if anything) comes out of the networking etc in Nov.
I cashed in the last of my Work shares so hopefully that will tide me over this month and if I manage to get some decent content work with this client tomorrow then that might help. They have only gone for one day so hopefully they like what they see. I will also take my tech cv to the meeting as they carry an ad saying to apply directly to them for a job.
I sent a note to the managing editor of the sports agency where I went to school so maybe it might be the break into sport and I applied (again) for the MSE internships that have come up again.
In the mean time I am going to get my technical CV back out for contact work and I am going to crack through this education now as that will help in securing a better contract.
So we'll see.- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

So hung on for about 20 mins to Npower and had to casually click on MSE and check what was the best thing to do, so opted to protect for the next two winters...
Meeting in town was quite good - they wanted half a day today and another half - but we were done discussing what they wanted - turns out they want quite a lot so if I do a good job in this "day" of work, it could turn out to be regular and more.
I spent ages with a friend getting "Press Officer/Press Release/Media Strategy 101" in prep for this, but the marketing director went off the idea, but in truth a lot of what they want in terms of making them stand out falls into a lot of the media strategy stuff. I gave them the CV and as I left the main consultant said that if things go well they'd consider bringing me in for some ad-hoc consultancy.
Also saw (shhhh... with a rival training company) some small consultancy offerings and they also have started their own recruitment board, so I linked with their CEO (who I think I met in passing at a conference) so once I get this first exam under my belt and beef up the CV, I might submit it to them as little pieces of work would still allow me to write.
Oooh for the course stuff I am doing, they want to record a video of my experiences to date - just as well I will have had a mopchop the week before!
I was supposed to meet my cousin a while back to give her my old iPhone 4 and despite telling me twice we would meet on Wedsnesday she ROYALLY screwed up and was driving back from Brighton as I was sitting in central London waiting for her. I was not best pleased (and that phone now unlocked is going to Envirophone, via TopCashback!). Today I thought I'd let her know I was in town... heard hide nor hair until I was literally one stop away from my house! Families... really who'd have 'em!
Tomorrow I have to try and chase up the Sports Agency... the managing editor was notorious in never answering his phone/returning calls/emails... but at least I tried!
One more week and then I can see how the mortgage is looking - I made an overpayment but haven't really had time to sort out my house or Vernon.. but it's the first scrape on those mortgage bricks...- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

So - I checked my current account and the last of my former company shares have been sold and are in my account.
I wondered if I was going to feel a sense of sadness that this was the final strand, but last week's weigh-in saw me duck below 11st... and the last time I was that weight was when I was basically full of stress, shortly before having to take voluntary redundancy.
So actually - with last week, and now enough to keep my tided over for November, I feel nothing... nothing at all other than a business-like assessment of whether to keep some car money to one side and use that money to pay for the car service instead.
At least I had the good sense to keep some money in the company coffers so I can "pay" myself in November and the money from an initial day of content work for the consultancy will fund that (and what little expenses I occured).
In terms of self-study - the marketing manager liked my blog for the first week, and I think in a way a few days of bimbling about has meant I came back to it with a bit of renewed vigour - I should be able to sort out my notes and take the quiz to advance to the next module by the end of the week.
Need to devote Monday to sorting out this content work for new client... must impress them!
The REALLLLLLLLLY good thing is that the stuff I am studying for my first Intermediate exam is exactly what they have tasked me to re-write!

Is this the most bizarre way to break a NSD?
In a fit of annoyance after a week of THE LONGEST creakiness from my bedroom door hinge (makes my bedroom door sound like the opening of a haunted castle!)... I stomped off in a huff to the local hardware shop for a can of 3-in-1!
It was annoying me all week, especially in the very early hours before heading to the gym (so given that I can hear my neighbour's creaky doors... it has probably been driving her batty too!)- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
