Hurdler's Race to be Mortgage-Free

So the evening before my birthday (today) my back seized up so it's been an interesting day. I was ok at school for the law exam but now I am hobbling around like a hobbling thing!!!
Law exam was ok but I don't think spectacular so I will be happy if I match my 59% in the mock!!!
I am a tad annoyed that the screen protector that shipped a day before the new iPad cover still hasn't arrived and the back cover did yesterday. Meh!
I had to get my retired neighbour to bring my new shiny PC upstairs as I didn't dare risk trying to carrying it ...so now there is a stonking great Dell XPS lying in its side. On my desk!
Hopefully my back eases off and and I can move it off my desk so I can go back to the day job tomorrow!!!
No exams until May but features to write ... But for tomorrow - back to the squiggles of doom!!!!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

sigh - for the SECOND time the Sports Magazine project has been put on hold... which is a real disappointment especially after writing the 2 trials.
No idea if/when it will be resurrected...
still at least I know that my writing was good enough to pass the trial.- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

thanks MCI ... my friend was telling me that whilst she was thrilled about the whole deal, she was worried for my time for myself dwindling... so maybe for the time being it is a good thing.

Awake shockingly early ...
So a little bit miffed with having to ring the tax office again yesterday to remind them that I have NO benefits with my new job. I rang them in January after I realised that there had been a massive screw up and that the company had just put my tax code in without adjustments and saw a bit of a benefit.
Then I got my tax code and they still included benefits for health, pension and car (which I told them I didn't have) and I had to go through the post-budget lecture on their phone systems before I could sit in a queue for tax code issues.
I have lost a bit of confidence in their oh so friendly "please ring us direct if your tax circumstance change" stance. Umm I did and I saw my salary fluctuate ... So do they actually pay attention to anything?
Hoping my back will let me try and sort out the two PCs today.- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

Woot - my £30 cashback from O2 for switching to them for home phone and broadband has arrived.
Providing my physio doesn't decide to manually separate my creaking spine from the rest of my body - I will risk a little tripette up to Watford and hit the banks at lunchtime.
Just as well as this has been a spendy month... but on that note - my new PC is just so uber quiet... compared to my other one that whirred and clicked away all day - this is a bit unnerving.
I have to keep waggling the mouse around to check it's still alive!
2nd load of washing about to hit the line - it really is a beautiful day in London today (that being said - I have just trotted in from the garden and am now sneezing more than a sneezy thing)!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

For some reason, Mad March has seen me COMPLETELY abandon my MSE ways... (well ok not QUITE completely)...
I bought myself a Remoska pan from Lakeland yesterday - I had been hankering for one for a while, and I will christen it tonight roasting some of my less bendy veggies in there to have with some grilly thing from the freezer.
I say not quite because ALL my splurges have been done with cashback cards, and wherever possible through cashback sites.
New Tax year will see a new, improved money-saving hurdler...

So ... a little bit of news...
By a most amusing happen-stance, the lovely Sepa recommended me to someone she knows who manages a couple of internet IT review sites on the off-chance that I might be able to write for him. Little did she know - the subject matter he was looking for was... MY DAY JOB!
Seriously - when I got her PM I had to re-read it a couple of times and then I just burst out laughing.
Anyhoo - we got introduced and the upshot of it is... I have some part-time IT Contracting/Freelance writing work and as a result... (gulp) ... I handed in my notice this week!
The work is a first step into journalism and more importantly it frees me up to do a couple of days a week work experience at the sports agency connected to the journo school.
So now I am ploughing through all the stuff I SHOULD have paid attention to regarding Limited Companies, and messing around creating editorial schedules.
What was so nice was when I told people/tutors in school everyone was lovely... hugs and gratz all round. One of my tutors said that it's particularly gratifying for them when it's one of the part-time as it is a definite decision to change your life and career.
So... now to sort out the finances... kinda wish I hadn't spent so much last month now. Ah, me!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
