Cool a room fast?
Comments

I read somewhere, that if you put an electric fan on the windowsill and point it facing outwards, it sucks out the warm air and the room will get cooler.
Especially if you have one on the floor near the door, helping to blow warm air at the outside pointing fan
Or maybe buy an awning for over the window? That might stop some sun warming up the room.
Or blackout blinds ?0 -
Blackout blinds closed during the day, and a ceiling fan do the trick for me.0

Could you open the loft hatch? I find that it lets the hot air go up their and out of your home.0

I like the fan idea. Makes sense at least from a logic perspective.Could you open the loft hatch? I find that it lets the hot air go up their and out of your home.
Another good idea.
Thanks for the advice from every poster, now its cold, lol. Will try it tomorrow, see what happens.0 -
Buy an air conditioner0

A cheap 'n' cheerful method for occasional use, if you don't want the expense of buying an air conditioner. Get a couple of damp towels, hang them over a clothes horse / airing rack / back of a chair. Position a fan so that it blows air over / through the towels. As the water evaporates, it cools the air.
Not as effective as a proper air conditioner, but fairly effective and very little cost ( just the electricity to run the fan ).
Obviously this introduces some moisture into the air, but given that it's hot you'll have the windows open anyway.0 -
Not sure if you have a baby in there or have just used a Baby Thermometer but our DS's room is a small box room and temperatures regularly hits 26+ degrees in the summer. I installed a ceiling fan and keep the curtains and blind closed during the day to reduce the heat from the sun. The Ceiling fan knocks a couple of degrees off and makes it 'feel' more comfortable.0

We have a little desk fan0

Freeze a large bottle of water and stand it in front of the fan (far enough away so it doesn't catch) when you go to bed. Just keep re-freezing the bottle of water ready for the next night. Worked a treat for us once on holiday and no air con. That way the fan is blowing cold air around.0
