Isn't that what dinner ladies have been expected to do for as long as any of us can remember?0

Unfortunately something happened to a friend of mine. As a dance teacher his hours were cut totally and he was replaced by someone unqualified. He won his industrial tribunal ccase on purely a preocedural matter, but the college have asked him to return after seeing the latest exam results.0

Would the cut in hours be due to a reduced number of nursery admissions because of the new policy of a once a year intake of reception..(starting full time school the year the child turns 5 instead of the term they turn 5)?
not very helpful I know but this is what has happened in DD's school0 -

at the moment i work 8:30am to 1pm 5 days a week then 2 of those days i do extra SEN hours of 1pm-3.30.
my new hours in sept are -
8.30am -1pm 3 days a week then 2 days a week 11.30-1!
i knew my hour where going to be cut back down and i would lose the SEN hours but i didn't realised my 'set' hours so to speak would go down to just 3 days a week and that they would expect my for 2 of those days to only come in for a 1.5 hrs in the middle of the day!!
I and most of the other TA's are so angry and confused as most of us have had ours hours drastically cut!
for me it'll mean a cut in my pay of about £250-300 which is a lot seeing as its nearly 2/3rds of my wages!
I am just in a state of shock and annoyance as recently we have all been busting our !!!!!! covering several people's long term sick abscences and doing extra hours at short notice to help the school out and it just feels like a major kick in the teeth for all of us when none of us were even warned it would be happening!!
I know i should be grateful i've got a job in the current economic cliamte etc but i'm actually really angry about it all, i mean its ridiculous expecting someone to come in and for 1.5hrs halfway through the day!!
.
Many staff at my school have lost their jobs in a round of redundancies including TA's, teachers etc. Schools are having their budgets cut drastically and have to make adjustments. As their biggest expenditre is staffing it makes sense to start there with savings.
I actually think your school is treating you fairly as they are obviously reducing hours in an attempt to avoid making redundancies and people ending up with no jobs at all. A lot of places would just go straight for the redundancies option.
Its not nice but it could be worse.0
