I read this page and got on my high horse, I rang every day for almost a week, eventually a member of the staff rang me to say that my banding had been approved. I thought they were fobbing me off, so I rang the police, they confirmed that they were doing nothing illegal. Shock horror, got a letter from the Valuation Office Agency, I had been Rebanded, 4 weeks later I recieved a refund all the way back to 1993.
The company wasted no time in sending me an invoice for 25%, which I was more than happy to pay, they then said they would get me back my interest back as well. I have to admit I had convinced myself it was a scam, How wrong I was. Many Many Thanks. (if the MSE team, want to contact me, I will happily supply a copy of my refund letter to them) :T0 -

They tell everyone that. Very very very few cases pay interest (only the VOA would , the council wont) and only then if its been a major cockup by the VOA. There's no legal requirement to pay interest, its at the VOA's discretion.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Sarashy the number I called was 0845 680 9179, I am sure I had an 01484 number for them but dont know what I did with it. I cant find a 01484 number on "say no to 0870" website. Sorry I cant be more helpful;).0

Can you supply the rest of us with a copy of the refund letter out of curiosity?0 -
My 75 year old father was another victim of CT Review promised to get him money back and rebanded, he paid the £165 and was told there was a 7 day cooling off period if he changed his mind and put it in writing. He did that sent the letter recorded delivery so we know they received it, that was back in May, since then many letters and phone calls have been made - still no refund! Even the citizens advice have rung them, they promised a refund and guess what - still no refund! Next stop ombudsman if that fails - a visit to our solicitor.
If this company calls you and promise the earth hang up, don't give them a penny!!!!0 -
I am so sorry to hear that your 75 year old father was another victim of these con-artists! If your father paid on a credit card, you can claim the money back. There is a letter on money saving expert to send to your bank and thanks to that we have now received the £165.00 back. I knew we would never receive a refund from CT Review. Good luck, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Now I know this company is the lowest to do this to a 75 year old person!!! Just hope more people read this.0 -
