CT Review in Huddersfield

CT Review ring up and say that they are a council tax refund company and that you have been overpaying for 10 years and that you are owed approx £2,500. Due to the council tax employing students and the banding is incorrect for your property. They ask for a £165 solicitors fee and that they will send out 2 contracts for you to sign and return 1 copy to them and you will be refunded the money in approx 10 weeks. You don't receive the contract and when you ring them up they are either in meetings or off sick!!!! BEWARE!!!! If you are wanting to check your council tax banding then you can do it yourself for free by ringing the valuation office on 03000 503 600.

Yes apparently the owner goes under various names as well Darrell Henry/Rewston/Littlewood at the address of 20b Dewsbury Road, Rastrick, Brighouse HD6 3QB currently in court in April 2011 for various company names doing exactly the same thing. Staff names of Wendy Smith, Robert Bax, Noreen or the infamous "John the Accountant" who must hold the Guinness World Record for the longest meeting!!!!!
  • I heard about CTReview after a neighbour had successfully managed to re-band their house whilst receiving a healthy rebate with their help. Initially I tried doing it myself after reading about scam rebate companies but was rejected by the VOA on the grounds of “insufficient evidence” which is when I contacted ctreview in March 2011 and signed up a month later. I discovered a few others in my area had also used them to change their council tax bands. Ctreview were able to keep me updated with calls and letters about the progression of my claim and within 4 months of signing up, a refund cheque of £3754 came through the post courtesy of my local council- who were also forced to change my tax band! From my own experience (and those who recommended them) I can only say they did exactly what they said they would and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to change their tax band.

I have read some people have had problems with the time frame of their claims but after dealing with the VOA firsthand, I can assure you the voa aren't exactly “prompt”!

A newbie whose one and only post is to sing the praises of a company criticised on these boards - would you believe it?

I've not seen anything from them yet - there are a few other companies who we do see but not CTReview.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
  • Unfortunately i have found this forum to late. I have been a subject of these horrid horrid people, and that i putting it politely. Luckily for me i paid on credit card and the credit card company are doing their best to return my money.
I just feel so stupid, i even rang the woman back and said omg i cant believe i have just given you my details your not a scam are you. oh no she said its all ok. She even enquired as to how old my children were that she could hear in the background, and i explained that i have very young twins and that money is very tight so £165 was a lot of money for me. I even received a contract from these people which i have signed and sent back, i wish i could remember what other details were asked for on this 'contract'.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
    DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE.

i cant believe their website is still running but the phone number no longer works.
