Streamline.net taking money from my account

Hello,
Does anyone know where I stand with this?
I used to have a website hosted with streamline and around 6 months ago, I moved this website to another company. I was told via the phone that once I had moved the website this would automatically cancel my account with streamline and I wouldnt have to do anything more.
However, last week streamline took around £200 from my account which is meant to be payment for the NEXT two years and they are claiming I hadnt confirmed my account closure by emailing them. I was never told this at the time as I would have obviously done it.
They are now saying they cant refund the money even though, I havent even used the service yet and have no intention too.
Surely this is fraudulent? If the payment has been made by mistake then surely you should be entitled to a refund?
I hope someone can help on this!

Just straight from my bank account. I checked and it doesnt seem like I have a direct debit with them either.0 -
Can anyone help?
They ignore all my emails too so I am not quite sure what I can do.0 -

Have read of this thread.
Did you follow the Cancellation policy as per their T&C's ?
Did you receive notice of the pending payment ?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

I've just read that thread, it made me laugh. Typical case of buyer fails to cancel account properly then blames someone else for his actions.
Although looking at the links posted their, no doubt they are not a very reputable company!0 -
I did not receive any notice of the pending payment.
Its not yet within 30 days of making the payment, however since they only reply to emails every 3 days i expect it will be there soon enough.
I didnt cancel the contract properly however this was only because I was ill informed by their own staff on how to do this.0 -
I actually just realised that they might have sent notice to my old email address that I no longer use and I dont even think is active anymore.
Also, from looking at the link it seems we are dealing with the same company. They are very sly and seem to purposely confuse and delay people when trying to cancel to squeeze extra money from us.0 -
Them having to notify you about the payment... is this law or just decency? Or could they argue you signed up for a rolling contract?
Not sure also if the rules would be different since I imagine it is infact a B2B transaction?0 -

So you haven't kept you contact details upto date ? May explain why you think they hadn't notified you ? Yes - same company.
To be frank - there are many companies out there that use recurring billing (don't need DD set-up and it is down to the company concerned to close the billing - the bank can do little/nothing about them)
They ALL use confusing tactics when someone tries to close down or cancel a service. This is why it is vital to understand, in precise detail, their cancelation policy and not to rely on what some call centre person may tell you. You must then follow the precise process step by step and get confirmation of cancellation.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Yeah, this is the bit I can accept I guess.
However, since I was told via phone that my account was cancelled I assumed I would never have to deal with them again and hence transferred everything else over to my new email.
Its obviously going to be hard to prove that they told me via phone my account would be cancelled.
Its been three days since they responded to my last email, I even sent an email to their "sales" department to ask when they would get back to me and they responded really quickly to assure me I would get a reply. Still waiting though...
I simply want to cancel everything I possibly can before i pursue getting a refund but they really arent making it easy.
I was wondering, if I had any rights in getting a refund though? Surely you can be covered since i technically have never used this service I have just paid for?0
