Best gifts for vet surguries?

My dog-dog has been going to the vets weekly/twice weekly for dressing changes following a broken leg. I've been very lucky that two of the vets have fallen in love with my dog and bicker over which of them will see her, and then they proceed to spoil her rotten.
Dog-dog has been a star and at half way through things are getting more difficult and tedious. Because of the wonderful treatment from these two vets dog dog is getting more confident not less patient.
I'd like to thank these two vets in particular. Would a cake/box of chocs and card for the practise with a secondary ''nicer'' gift for the vets be ok? Any recommendations?

That's really nice of you
Its always good to be appreciated
Some chocolates or biscuits would go down nicely (they disappear in about 5 minutes at my place-I don't eat rubbish at home, just at work :rotfl: )
If you wanted to get small individual gifts for the 2 vets, we sometimes get flowers, wine, chocolates, that sort of thing. To be honest though-a nice happy patient and owner is usually reward enough! Most places I've worked in have a little display of thank you cards too
ooh I missed the bit about cake-cake is REALLY good-especially home made ones
(sometimes we get different stuff, like fruit platters, or cheese-they are good too!

I would always appreciate a nice hand written letter or card and a nice home-made cake always goes down well - although I am partial to shortcake or flapjack as well
Some flowers for reception is a nice touch as well, brightens everyone's day
It is always nice to look at the cards / letters when you are having a stressful day - it reminds you that the job is worthwhile.0 -
I bought some posh biscuits for my vets after they looked after my cat so well, instead of a normal card I had a a moonpig 'thank you' card made with his photo on apologising for his behaviour when he had to stay in overnight as he was apparently 'kennel guarding' ie hissing and growling at anyone that went past so they had to cover the front of his cage over! When I went in to visit him they couldn't believe how soppy and cuddly he was.
What really touched me was the second day he was there a nurse told me how he had eaten a tiny bit of food from her fingers, now if that was me there's no way I'd stick my hand in the kennel of a strange cat who less than 24 hours had been hissing and growling at me so I was really touched at her dedication to try and get him to eat

I'd do with something like a big box of chocs (Roses, Heros, Celebrations etc) for the practice with a card & maybe a smaller box of "special chocs" (eg Thorntons etc) for the 2 vets.
Although they have been wonderful to your dog, I think there has to be something for the practice as a whole - from the receptionists/nurses who book you in/look after your dog to the cleaners who come round and make sure it's spotless.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

It was a one-off present for a vet who'd really gone the extra mile for our Diabetic/CRF catty Rocky, before we relocated... We bought him a really, really good fountain pen engraved - with loving thanks from Rocky.0

If they are anything like my vets, pens would be appreciated as well as food /card. My lot are forever losing pens. I often drop off a dozen or so and you can guarantee within a few days they'll be fighting over the one last pen in the building!0

Getting a thankyou card is lovely, especially when you have spent a lot of time nursing a patient, as you become really attached and often get to know the owners quite well.
For general thankyou presents for the whole practice, anything sugary is good
choccies, biscuits, cake - all will be very much appreciated!
If you want to thank an individual, flowers or a bottle of plonk etc are good. I love the idea of the engraved pen - very cool! A personalised mug might be an idea?I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

ewww....
at my vets they'd a big box of biscuits...
and the nurse came out, petted a dog (clearly a regular) and then put her hand straight in the biccies...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Hehe! That made me giggle!
As a vet nurse I have been half way through eating my butties at dinner time before realising I have much, much worse stuff than a bit of dog hair on my hands.....:o
And no it never put me off
This was a few years ago when we weren't so strict on hygeine in practice
These days I wear gloves for most things, and am always washing my bloody hands lolI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Thanks all. Its a new practise for us, and I was not comfortable at first. Luckily for me where we used to live I had worked with both the small and large animal vets and lnew them well. If we'd needed help I'd thank them with a meal. Have to say, none of the vets I've worked with have ever been other than just momentary pleased with thank you cards, but do appreciate proper verbal thank yous.
re vet's and unwashed hands for biscuits, you should see what used to be in our shared fridges at agricultural college when we were researching and collecting samples! I suppose people are much stricter about that these days!
But these guys I don't know, and it would seem a bit random, and possibly uncomfortable for them if I invited them home for a meal! The more senior vet I've also been impressed with when taking in a feral cat, and she's wonderful. She asked me how I was doing with handling the cat and when I expressed regret at the inevitable set back the trip would make she handled the cat like I had been, senstively and without restriction. I was impressed at her courage! The younger of these two very lovely vets was less great with the cat, but is great with dog-dog. Both have gone out of their way to be lovely to her, and she wags her tail when she sees them, which considering she's an aloof sighthound and they are involved in some pain each time they see her for these horrid dressings I think is impressive. Remarkably my very aloof dog will even take treats from them. I've had some pretty special animals in the past but even my vet friends haven't bickered over which gets to help them!
I think a bottle of wine is possibly the safest idea for the vets, and perhaps, if dog dog ever gets sorted out and can run properly a running shot of her made into a thank you card, after all they both think she's great, lol.
(I know thats all a bit waffle-y. I'm also doing a lot for dog-dog and not getting much sleep atm.
