Not sure if this is the correct forum. I have been contacted by http://idealsolutionsuk.co.uk/ for a re-sale of my unwanted holiday ownership in portugal. Has anyone ever heard of this company?

If you want rid of your timeshare then I recommend http://www.timeshare-hypermarket.com/
As long as your valuation expectations are realistic , they can sell it for you completely FEE FREE0 -
Has anyone heard of Multi Claims (http://www.multi-claims.com)?
We have been contacted with regards to a claim against mis-selling of timeshare, on a no-win no-fee basis, but are wary of the many rip-off merchants out there. We really want to get rid of our timeshare, as we now have a family, and the promise of easy and quick resale never materialised.0 -
Multi Claims has no address, no company name, a legal requirement and if they contacted you, rather than the other way around, they are either part of the problem in the first place, i.e see you as an opportunity to make more money or they are buying mailing lists which may be in breach of the Data Protection Act. I would personally avoid them like the plague, but if you do call, ask the name of the solicitors they are using.... that should be interesting!0

Indeed - whois show "multi-claims.com" registered with that reputable registrant GoDaddy Inc and hiding behind a "Domain by Proxy" registrant.
They will tell you it's "No win, no fee" but they will either take ALL your proceeds, or, much more likely, they will ask for a (of course 'refundable') admin fee upfront, never to be seen again.

This was the confirmation email I was sent:
Dear Mr and Mrs Xxxxx
I am writing to confirm your appointment at our Slough office
Please see address and directions for your reference.

Free parking is located on Vicarage Way, behind the Old George Pub on Colnbrook High Street. Turn left into the Village Hall Free Car Park (entrance has large orange gates)
and we are the white building with the curved wall.
The reason for your visit is to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire for compensation and register your intention to claim against your timeshare company.
All claims will be on a NO WIN NO FEE basis.
Legal Counsel´s opinion is that the average claim is likely to be up to £20,000.
In order to assess your claim it will be necessary for you to bring with you all original ownership deeds, certificates, management fee invoices and any other timeshare correspondence that you may have.
Also, to comply with international Know Your Client practice, we will need a copy of your passport or other photographic identity such as a driving license together with a utility bill, bank statement or any other official document which confirms your address.
Please note that all parties named on deeds/certificates must attend. Should there have been a change of any of the partners named on the deeds/certificates, the new partner should attend.
In most cases we can also permanently dispose of your timeshare interest. Once processed, this service would immediately remove you from any further management fee liability and associated costs and will not affect your claim. There will be a fee for this service, the amount of which will depend on your timeshare ownership.
In some cases it may be necessary for you to give a power of attorney in favor of our legal representative in order to facilitate your disposal.
In all successful claims you will receive 60% of the compensation on settlement.
Should you need any further clarification or assistance please do not hesitate to give us a call.
Kind regards
Multi-Claims

hi
please do not hand over your timeshare certs and don't pay any fees upfront. I used to work in a legal dept dealing with timeshares and the number of heartbreaking stories we used to hear about people losing thousands of pounds to organisations who said they would buy timeshares or get timeshare orgs to take back timeshares was staggering.
please contact tatoc the timeshare owners assoc for advice before you do anything.0 -
NEVER pay any money upfront. If you go to the meeting it will end up with you paying out money.0

I had invested in a reputed timeshare company in India. At that time I had given them a small deposit of nearly $ 200 to the company, but due to some financial issues, I could not pay the balance of the money. This was a few years ago and I guess I have lost money, even though the company is after me to revive the membership.
The point that I wish to make is that today I can pay the timeshare company and become its member, but in these intervening years, I have realised that timeshare subscription is a bad idea. It is better to invest your money in some monthly return giving real estate in your hometown or in the capital of the country. The real estate appreciation shall be better vis-a-vis the timeshare investment.
One restriction with the timeshare investment is that the properties are located outside the destination cities. This means more taxi bills and time spent on the roads.
Another restriction is that not all destinations are covered in the world. Let your investment earn for itself in a good city and use the earning to choose any destination in the world, e.g. a cruise!0 -
To Stefano, this looks like the classic 'con', they will tell you a story about how to get rid of the timeshare, it is often by being sold with others to a tour operator, (operators want accommodation for a whole season not a week), and then promisimg you money at some point in the future. Do not, under any circumstances whatsoever sign any agreement in the office or even show them a credit card. If, and I suspect it is a big if, it is legitimate, they will welcome you going away to read the document, it is usually in the name of an English sounding company which is actually based in Gibraltar which has zero consumer protection laws. As these people are not lawyers, ask them who they are using, please do not do anything in haste and if they are still talking to you after an hour, get up and leave, it will be a scam. Sorry to be so pessimistic, see if their name is outside the office door, if not, they may be renting it by the hour!0

There has been another call from a company called ITRA, and they claimed that courts had ruled in the favour of owners and a mis-selling had occured, especially as the promise to resell the timeshare was made and never carried through. Here's the email they sent me after the conversation:
June Scott,
Claims Assistant,
Claims Department ITRA.
Tel: 0161 7381260
Dear Mr & Mrs Blogg,
Here is the claim information you wanted.
You are entitled to make a Lawsuit Claim against Club Praia De Oura , because you were blatantly lied to, no Timeshare Resort ever buys back or resells unwanted weeks. Our Legal Team have said this is pure" Coersion & Blatant Mis-selling". This means you are entitled to claim your full purchase price back in the eyes of the Law. .
We use the best law firm, to do your claim quickly and efficiently for you. You would have to most likely take your paperwork to the Lawyers to register your claim. The claim takes about 6 months to pay out in full to you.
When you have been paid, we ask for our payment, which is 40 %.The claim also cancels your Timeshare, So no more maintainance payments to a useless company!
Your admin/legal fees have to be paid by way of a Credit Card, to protect you under Section 75 ofthe Consumer Credit Act of 1974.
The admin/legal fee is 550 pounds which is inclusive of V.A.T.
We send you out a Contract & reciept of payment, then a member of our Legal Team will call to go through the Contract with you
Remember, the Law says you are entitled to make this claim & we don"t take on Claims we can"t win !
It seems that everyone wants a large chunk of money to start with, despite the fact they will withhold 40% of the claim. It's getting more and more difficult to spot a scam, and they are getting more and more convincing.
Is anyone else in a similar situation????0
