Mobile Phone lost, blocked and found

This past April I lost my uninsured pay monthly Orange HTC Wildfire AKA my rigth arm, I did not report it lost at first as every logical conclusion was that the phone was in the house somewhere, I was especially aware of my movements at that time as this happen a few days after the death of a relative.

By late June I gave up and bought a new lesser phone & ordered a new sim card replacement which automaticly blocked the old phone.

Within days the old phone just reappeared - in rather odd circumstances too - but i was unable to use it even with the new orange sim sadly. Thankfully I still have my photos :)

Is a phone unblockable under the circumstances of an honest loss and honest find when i never made any kind of claim on insurence and have nothing to benefit from reporting it lost. In fact the only benifit of unblocking this same phone is the ability to access services i am still paying for for the next 18 months. Also they never warned me the phone would be permanently blocked if found.

in case you are interested

Those odd circumstances well I was hot so I slept downstairs, I firmly shut the door between my kitchen and my hallway especialy to trap a fly that was driving me nuts I left the kitchen light on the tv on a fall asleep on the sofa, next day door wide open lights all off and phone rigth in the middle of the floor, most weird of all the power was on!

Anyone know a good exorcist! :D

hope you dont mind me piggy backing this one as Id be interested as well, as i reported my phone lost to o2 and had my sim only contract sim blocked and issued replacement. but the network must also have blocked my phone (bought seperately uninsured and no clain or police log made) so not sure how they did.
5 months later it turned up and now i cant get a signal with any sim in it so would like to know how to reactivate it

Call your provide and explain it. Assuming you got it from the network they well have proof of purchase and once you pass security thet should be able to unblock it.

Just call the network they will remove the phones imei from the barred list providing you have not made a claim under any insurance policy.

If you made the claim then the phone does not belong to you but the insurance company and the network will not remove the bar.

You lost it for 2 months but didn't report it? You are aware that you would have been liable for all calls made on it during that period? I think you should consider yourself very lucky indeed that you are not looking at a bill for several thousand.
If you could not locate it in the house over 2 months or more, then how could you be 100% sure that it was not lost or stolen elsewhere?
Blocking is a process done for your own security.

    cheers

ive just contacted o2 via their live chat and done in 5 minutes once given imie and security details, says will be unbarred in 24 hours. As the phone was still on when i reported it lost, they can bar it via the sim.
