I have been looking at the website and they have 50% off for 12months making it £3.25 + line rental. Does anyone know if this is actually the price I pay or do I get the 50% back after the 12 months?

No, you pay £3.25pm for the first 12m, as stated at the bottom of the Essentials home page.
This price will only apply if you are on a TT LLU exchange though.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It doesn't matter who you are with now, but you need to be on an exchange which is LLU'd by TT.
