I also travel to family in Merseyside once a year or so. Last summer we stopped over for lunch in Stafford and had a stroll around. It is a nice town. We looked around the old castle on the outskirts and the Tudor museum house in the middle of town. Then Mrs A bought herself a few pairs of nice shoes so she was very happy.
Sadly I have no plans to be in Staffordshire again soon so someone else will have to earn those pies.
