Help with flights to NZ

Hi everyone. We, two adults, go to NZ every two years to see grandchildren who emigrated six years ago, been with Singapore Air and Malaysia Air and all was OK. We now want to go for about 5 weeks, Dec 2011 to Feb 2012. Looking at flights it seems prices have gone up a lot, £1100 min? So any money saving ideas, codes or which airlines to avoid? We would only do one stop, not a long one to save money.

Are you specifically wanting to be away for Christmas and New Year?

Does that quote above refer to that period? If so then I should say it is quite competitive (compared to another destination with a very good airline that I have priced up)


If you can wait and travel outbound after about the first week of January then prices may drop quite a bit?

Thanks, no we don't have to be there at Christmas, school holidays are till end of January so maybe travel out when you suggest. Any airlines to avoid? Cathay seem to have the cheapest flights so far but haven't checked up on extras yet.

Sorry can't help you with any money saving tips for your flights, but we did use Air NZ last March when we went to NZ. We had a stop off in HK and have no complaints at all with the airline.
