  • Well we went through all their clothes and they really only need school clothes and Jeans / trousers for at home, They have so many tops.. i think they hid them all at the bottom of the bed so they can claim they never have any! Oh plus pants! we must have gone through a *buy all you can* when they were 5 as all the pants are 5-6, so thats on the list too. I feel a bit better knowing its just trousers we actually need, breathed a big sigh of relief and very naughty me spent £35 in the Barrats website a few minutes ago, we have fantastic Skechers coming for when they go back to school and they are so cheap compared to everywhere else! one pair for £16 and one was £17.60.

    So plan of action;
    1. Buy lots of pants in Asda!
    2. buy lots of trousers at car boot on Sunday
    3. Stop worrying about uniforms till the council sends my £100 clothing grant :D

    try ebay by putting your child,s age and bundle e.g 6-7 bundle when they come up then select nearest first so they show what's for sale nearest to you. That way you should be able to call and collect them (im assuming you drive) also if your on facebook they have (where I am anyway) a local for sale board
    Im the secretary of our school PTA. Im sure if you asked them they would help you to source a 2nd hand uniform. I would have no hesitations helping you and wouldn't tell anyone. I hope your situation improves soon xx

    Are you a member of netmums.com? There is an area on the local boards where you can request items from other Mums that they no longer need.

    Primark have a really good sale on at the moment if you have one nearby. Lots of boys T-shirts and shorts for £2, and some plimsoll type shoes for that price too.

    I find car boots great for second hand clothes so fingers crossed you have some luck there too. Gumtree might also be worth a look for bundles of clothes if you have no luck on Freecycle.

    Hi if you have a church group near you it may be worth putting a notice on their board asking for any boys clothing. I used to give and receive clothing from the church I attended and you dont need to be a member.

    I don't know if you have any time to spare, but if you do, I'd advise you to volunteer for a charity shop, if you volunteer for them, they will let you have clothes and things with a discount and you'd be surprised to see how much good stuff is thrown away, so if you ask them, you can take some of the things they throw. of course the policies differ from shop to shop, I write from my experience.
    If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.

    You know those iron-on cloth knee patches?

    If you put them on new trousers on the inside they don't show and they stop them going through the knees so quickly, making trousers last longer.

    Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

    Oh thats a great idea thank you so much!

    I got very lucky and Tax credits had underpaid us considerably! I found a huge chunk of money in my savings account i just hadn't expected so we went and spent £85 :eek::eek::eek: in Primark this morning! 3 pairs of trousers each, a few tops, 28 pants!!!! 15 socks and a 2 pjs sets each! plus 4 pairs of trousers and tops for my youngest.

    Its been a long time since i was able to spend that much money but I feel great for getting stocked up :) might even have enough left over to book a caravan for a weekend at skeggy:j:j:j
