My boys are 4 and 6, although they wear age 5-6 and 7-8 clothes. They seem to have growth spurts every few months, there feet are currently size 12 (4yr old) and size 1 (6yr old) they either grow out of things or wreck them cloimbimg etc.

Primark as lots have mentioned have a sale on at the minute including jeans for £3 and joggers for £2. They have jumpers and t shirts in the sale from £1 and I also saw pumps for £1.

have recently bought the boys polo shirts for school in tesco as their value ones with the 20% off came in at 60p each.

I also have family keep an eye out in larger supermarkets for when they reduce childrens clothing as we live over 20 miles from the nearest supermarket so don't go there too regular, I have also bought clothes off facebook groups locally and they are reasonable in price, last time £5 for a large carrier bag full of good quality clothes HTH

My 13yo has just had another growth spurt and I'm just about to be made redundant [I am the main earner]. I found a pair of army combats for £4 in the sale at Millets- he's a scout so is also very active. Have also had some items from freecycle [I freecycle anything he's outgrown to keep the loop going] and some bits passed down from his older cousin. Asda have some good deals aswell. Have also at times bought from jumble sales, car boots and charity shops [a pair of scout trousers from the charity shop this last weekend for £2.99- normally would be £15+]
I spend the money on decent school shoes and trainers [but only these when in the sales]

I'm surprised MSE doesn't have a for sale or trade board really. It would be an ideal addition. Maybe it would be too much of a minefield, but the others i go on just have a disclaimer that says "you can sell and buy on here, but if owt goes wrong it's nowt to do wi us!"

We used to go to the school's uniform sale when my 2 were in the infants . There was always a pile of clothes that got left because they weren't perfect. Sometimes the colour had faded or there was a button missing, that sort of thing. The person running the sale would offer them up for ridiculously low prices and I would snap them up because my son was a cuff chewer and it just wasn't worth getting new only to see them chomped within a week.
I turned quite a lot of long trousers into shorts because of knee holes too.
