Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday, 12th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Silvermaid and all who follow,
Dill and overcast here this morning but forecast says that it is going to brighten up later.
DD1s concert was lovely last night, I get so nervous when she sings a solo but I know it is going to be lovely. She did an Adele song and it was beautiful.
Going to my last ballet lesson before the summer break tonight and we are all going out for a drink afterwards, looking forward to that.
WM is on and tea tonight is something made with the last bits of sunday's chicken.
Hugs to all that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all
I have washing on the line, but may bring it in as rain is forecast.
My son has had his surgery & is ok so far, I just need to work out when I can visit him, there seem to be so many people we are forming a rota!
Only a short message from me today as the tablets I'm taking for my ear infection have given me the squits (TMI I know).
Have a good day eveyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone - unusually I have just woken up! :j Slept long and slept late is not my normal pattern so I'm a bit groggy.
Dull here with rain in the air!
I was pretty tired yesterday after my almost 400 mile round trip and tomorrow will be worse. At least tonight I've got an hotel room. It was a struggle to find a room in the Wetherby/Leeds area but then realised it's the Great Yorkshire Show - no wonder the place is stowed out. I do hope it's not raining for them down in Harrogate.
Flutterbyuk - thanks for the tip about using bread for the glass shards. No bread in the house as I'm LCing and won't allow it! I did another manic vacuuming last night and a very gentle one before bed so, fingers crossed, the bits are all gone.
Yep -OH had pizza whilst I ate a huge bowlful of veggies and bolognaise sauce with some parmesan cheese on top. So a but of OS last night.
Today I have my egg mayo ready again and will prepare a little pot of chorizo with cream cheese for my lunch on the motorway. I really don't want to resort to a sandwich because I haven't prepared in advance.
So, it's work today, hotel tonight, work tomorrow, hotel that night, work Thursday and back home Thursday night for work Friday. Luckily I love my work so it's not quite as bad as I have made it sound. Clothes are in piles or in case so nothing else to do except have another cup of tea and then shower/dress.
Happy Tuesday to folks, hope today is the day when life is good.0 -
Morning all
Dry and sunny but the wind is a bit chilly here. Second day of training, hopefully we'll be out early. Think I'll dig up the rest of my spuds when I get home.
People thought it was quite unusual yesterday that I took my own lunch and didn't buy a sandwich from next doors Tesco. Todays lunch is left over potatoe salad and a green salad. Will also take some fruit. Tea tonight is baked potatoes (HG) with cheese, bacon and beans.
HESTER hope you and you son feel better soon.
NPM one of my friends has a son with special needs, I don't know why they make it so awful when it comes to review time.
Must get on, hugs to anyone who wants one.

Morning everyone
Dry and warm with sunshine trying to break through the clouds. Washing on line, another now in. DH up and had brekkie, he'll be going to work shortly, he brought me a cuppa in bed earlier. Boys up and had brekkie. Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, carrots, broccolli and gravey, choccy cake for the menfolk after. DH got the temporary fridge and freezer taken back to his parents last night so dining room back to normal (whatever that is!) Dinner tonight will be quickies as DS1 has Cadets. Work a bit hectic as people off sick and hols - so don't get a minute - at least it makes the day go quickly!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good Morning x
Blooming disaster zone here this morning, right now :eek::eek:
Dont know where to start really. Kids Dad and I had to go and collect DS2 (16) from Wakestock in North Wales so round trip of 400 plus miles. He had gotten into a fight with some of his mates after a whole weekend of relentless bullying and horrid name calling. He finally flipped and is now sporting a black eye and broken nose:eek::eek::eek: He fell asleep the minute he got into the car and has been asleep now for 24 hours. We have been waking him regularly and making him drink but he just drops back off. Quite worried about him now and wondering if he has taken something:(:(:( I will give him until the afternoon and then set the dogs on him as they love a challenge and can lick him into shape:):):)
So that was yesterday out the window as although I was only a passenger, travelling really wipes me out and I was still swaying (my vestibular system) when I woke up this morning. My dear cleaner has let me down again and the house is an absolute tip. I have now decided that I need regular and reliable help so will have to look for an agency. It has become a priority now as it really stresses me when she lets me down unexpectedly. I have got loads of washing to do as DS2 came back filthy so that is waiting for me in the garage.
DD has to go to the dentist today as she has an emergency appointment as she has lost a tooth and is positively phobic. To top it all I have a really important consultant appointment in London tomorrow which is such a hassle with the travelling.
Ok please send me some Positive Mental Attitude because its surely lacking so far. Right cuppa and wash on then onwards and sideways xx
Hugs to you all for a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning Folks,
Belated Happy Birthday to Taplad :bdaycake:& Beanlette :bdaycake:for yesterday
Made lentil soup yesterday with lo bacon water, lots of lo cabbage and lo potatoes with some bacon rashers that needed using. There was too much potato to use the mixture for lasagne. It was very yummy, which is good as I made about 6 pints. Over half gone now as it has provided 6 meals to date - for the price of an onion and 2 tins of tomatoes and there's still enough for 2-3 more portions.
Got our bed stripped, washed, line dried and back on again. It all smelled lovely and fresh airy:)
Got a day off today, hooray, so will get half of the sofa and chair covers washed and out on the line. Can have a good browse around the garden, picking berries and doing some overdue weeding.
Dinner tonight is chinese style ribs, stir-fried veg and egg fried rice.
Have a good Tuesday m'dears, lots of hugs to those in need of them or who want them.
Cheers, Silver x
PS
HH - thank goodness your DS is on this side of surgery, and hope you feel better very soon. On the rare occasions I need antibiotics I never feel completely well until the course is over and I stop taking those pills.
Molly - Lots of hugs and spoons. Hope DS is OK soon xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all!!
Feel totally refreshed after my epic sleep last night. Dropped OH off at work, puppy refused to get out the car, so clearly isn't in the mood for going to work today! Have bought him home and will drop in on him at lunch time. He's not in a great mood today!
Going to leave for work shortly. Just having a cuppa.
So didn't eat last night, and have no appetite today - my mum wonders if it's stress making me feel ill, what with Grandpa, BIL, and money etc. Not sure what i can do about that?
Got to attack the kitchen later today and decide what to do for OH's tea at some point too, also have a cheque to pay in and am going to get my Grandpa a card too.

Morning all,
Bit overcast and blowy here today, it will hopefully brighten up later on, I have a load of towels in the wm.
DD still in bed, I will get her up at 9, general tidy and hoover through today, might go out and get a passion flower for my garden, my clematis died over the winter, I think this is the third one I have had, they never seem to grow for me, I had a passion flower at the last house which grew really well so will try that.
Also need to go scrumping later ondd gets soooo embarassed :rotfl:But I will pick a load of fruit, make some into chutney and freeze some.
Smoked mackeral for tea, with new spuds, I will have salad with mine, but will do OH peas and sweetcorn, he gets a bit fed up with salad, where as I could eat it every day.
Topsy good luck for your interview today xx
Molly PMA coming your way, hope everything sorts its self out, and I agree you need to get a more reliable cleaner xxxx
Have good days all xx0
