We are now using two laptops at the same time and as we have limited allowance with Plusnet(10Gb) can anyone confirm whether using 2 computers doubles the usage.Might sound obvious but I really need to know. Thanks

No, it depends on how each individual uses each one.604!0 -
Don't forget that it's unmetered between midnight and 8am at Plusnet, so if you've got any large files to download then use something like JDownloader to schedule them. I won't even begin to hint at what the Steam sale has done to my usage this month...0

Just using a computer that's connected to the Internet won't significantly eat into your download allowance. That only happens when you transmit or receive data (i.e. when you load a new web page, or connect to an audio/video stream, or download a file, etc.).
If you look at the same web page on the two laptops, then you will have downloaded that page twice (assuming you don't have a proxy server... and if you're not sure, you don't!)0 -
You will know when you hit your limit, cos it will go back to dial up speeds, we have the cheapest plusnet (2GB) & hit it regularly. Shame we can't have a better limit really cos it's mostly down to the boss streaming YouTube cat films.0

auch that would be painful, i am just glad i have Sky LLU so i have unlimited because i could not afford my normal monthly bandwidth if i was on any form of limitDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

As I recall you can add additional amounts of monthly usage to plusnet accounts.
Each additional 1GB usage costs something like £1 if you preset/preallow each month.......or around £1.25 if you just allow it to go over on the occassional months without presetting it permenantly in your settings.
Sounds like you have set yours up to not allow anything over the limit under any circumstances.0 -
I'm just getting to grips with a paltry 10GB from Plusnet (but then it is free this year). Doesn't matter how many computers you have - 10GB is the total (payed for).
Aswell as JDownloader (cannot get the scheduler to work - just start them off manually at 12) I use http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ where its a doddle to download between 12 and 8 (Options -> Settings -> Time Limit). I also use iPlayer alot and again, don't kick it off until midnight. (using Windows Task Scheduler).
EDIt: Ok I've found the JDownloader Schedule Plugin. Let's try that tonite.0 -
Use something like NetMeter on each laptop to monitor your usage. No free lunch, and no free laptop

And Plusnet give daily usage logs https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php?&strAction=PERIODUse something like NetMeter on each laptop to monitor your usage.
For browsing and email 10GB is fine (average 300MB per day or 2.3GB per week). Its the downloads that eat data.0 -

For daily browsing and email 0.5Gb/month is fine!! Dont forget to turn off the automatic software updates.0
