iPhone 4 Contract - Help

Hi chaps.

I had a history of sillyness with my credit a few years back, but have been stable for the last 2 and a half to 3 years. I live with my partner, I never miss bills, I have 2 contracts with Virgin aswell as my cable services, which I never miss payments on. My partner is willing to have my monthly contract and keep my number and ditch the monthly rolling contract she is on at the minute so that I can get an iPhone.

I am just wondering if there was any contract you guys would recommend to me out there ie; best network, easiest network for acceptance rates etc. I don't mind paying a lump sum towards the phone providing I can get a decent contract and it helps my chance of acceptance. I have a good income, just worried my credit rating from years ago may damage my chances.

Vodafone rejected me for the 40 pound a month contract, gutted.
They were supposedly one of the easier going..

Any help?

Regards

Wait until iphone 5 comes out in a few months and pay far less for a 4 would be my advice (if it really has to be an iphone)

I have quite a lot of other apple equipment at home, and I am a graphic designer and use mac's at work. I'm a big fan of Apple - makes sense to tie it all in together, hence why I would prefer the iPhone. I can't wait til October to be honest, I've waited months as it is before making my mind up :S

if you are struggling to get accepted would you be able to pay for the phone outright and have a giffgaff or three one plan sim card?

I haven't got 500 quid spare or I would of bought one outright to save the un-necessary credit searches!

I don't want to apply for every network possible if I can help it, it will damage my credit file as stated previous. Just wondered if anyone knew any network that was more lenient so to speak, anyone who will view my application individually on recent improvement rather than years ago :/ I know it's my own fault but the past is the past.

they are all much of a muchness you will find they use the same reference agency and require similar score to be accepted.

Have you had a look at your credit file to see what it is like?

Yip check the files mate. I got a vodafone contract even though i have got a virgin mobile default (5 years old though)

But first thing is first and check the credit reports.

Would it be best to go via Carphone warehouse or someone similar - or go direct to network?

There is no such thing as getting a credit score from the creditfile companies. They simply provide your payment history and the company concerned scores you.

What criteria Vodafone (or anyone else) uses is company confidential and you'll never know, if you did it would be easy to get around the system.

Checking your credit record is good, especially to make sure there are no little spelling mistakes that may mean a computer automatically rejects you. Checking the electoral register is correct (and you are on it at that address) is a good idea too. But as the OP said each credit search is recorded (but not the outcome) so too many applications in a short time means you'll make a mess of the file.

Ultimatly the providers will look at the last 6 years and decide on that, not the last two, as thats how long the credit file goes back for.
