Went in a few weeks ago as was looking at getting a corner suite.
walked in ..all was ok browsed for about 2mins when someone came upto us and asked if we was and to ask for help if we needed any..told us leather was downstairs and fabric upstairs.
proceeded to go upstairs. As soon as we had got to the top the store manager was there greeting us. said have a good look round give us a shout if you need me.
we had a good look round but with him about 4 steps away from us all the time and joining in with our convo.
i picked the panama corner suite . told him colour etc and also said to him that i would like to try and get the credit on it . If i was declined i could pay on my credit card.
he said that the credit had been referred not accepted or declined he would ring me back by the end of the day to tell me whats going on.
we waited for a phonecall ...none i rang them a few times to be told by receptionist that he was busy and would ring me back.
Today he phones me and asks me for full payment for the suite , i asked him about the credit and he just said 'oh you was declined'
i asked him why he had not answering my calls and all he was bothered about was my payment for the suite. i felt like he was a debt collector and demanding money the attitude he had!
I told him i didnt want to carry on the sale now as he had not had the decency to call me back to tell me what was happening. To which i got a very bad attitude from him telling me my suite was already ordered so i had to have it .
i've emailed head office abut him and his attitude. lets see what they say.
He has tried to ring me back twice since that phone call but i just dont want to be spoken to again like he spoke to me!

I've popped into our local store a few times to see what they had available and the sales reps have never been over bearing or rude. I haven't bought from them though as I decided to get a second hand one and save some money instead0

What a nightmare. Problem is... doubt you'll be able to cancel purely because the sales assistant was rude. Unfortunately it's just going to come under the heading of 'customer changes her mind'. Let's hope you get a better response from head office.
Mind you, if you really like the suite... no harm done! Just tell everyone what a rude person he was and get your satisfaction that way!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
One of the local ones was, well lets just say over bearing bordering not let us leave premises.
Got a decent price and was happ with the show quality.
The problems arose when delivered a non recliner chair.
Whole suite had to be replaced and current local manufacaturer went bust. New suite made in Italy but thats where the main problems started. The foam they use isnt fit for the purpose, 3 days use the chair looked like it had been sat in constantly for 12 years, no exageration nothing left just collapsed leather.
Months went by just got the run around palming me off on to insurers in turn wanting to pump liquid foam in. Having worked for a foam manufacturer i knew what was involved, the only solution was another new suite made with decent foam and liner.
Even paid a visit armed with piccies to the store, got no joy so just showed a few to prospective customers.0 -

Heard a horrible story about the owner of SCS's behaviour at a christmas party once, wouldn't give him a penny.0

To Mummyoftwoboys, are you saying that you decided to order it on Credit and paid the deposit, and that if they couldn't do the credit (why would you think they couldn't?), you'd do it on credit card. But because the guy never called you back to tell you, you just felt sick by the attitude of him, and pulled out?
I don't blame you. I was in an SCS today looking at Lazy Boy. The manager was slightly cocky, and even commented very negatively on a competitor store (very well known brand I won't mention here), which I thought was unprofessional.
I would say keep at it. Tho by now I suspect it's been dealt with.
What I really dislike is that you can buy anything on order, a car for example, or even services, and you have a 7 day cooling off period: I think it's a trades mans law!
But with SCS (maybe all others too), you can't. They tell you you have "no right" to cancel.
Are there any legal bods here who can confirm? Even if they say you have no right, legally, do you??
I came onto this thread to see what SCS are like, as I think it's much like other stores: you get some with fabulous staff, and some with less fabulous ones. I had a really bad experience with one and told them down the phone I won't be spoken to like that - and hung up. Wrote a very strongly worded letter to the HO, got a letter back, and eventually spoke to a big boss man, and got my way on a refund.
But some stores are really great. Helpful etc.0
