Ways to pay Sky debt ?

Hope someone can please help.
I have a Sky debt, from a couple of years ago, for about £190 - £210
I have mental health problems, and hate myself for it, but I ignored all the letters when I was cut off and didn't pay. I was ill n bed and couldn't even go out or answer the phone.
It got harder to ring up to sort out the debt and it has been left unpaid.
I have rung 3 times, to ask them to accept weekly payments.
Each time, I get a different answer :wall:
First person at Sky, told me to ignore the debt collectors letter.
Second told to email.
Third, I have been told to ring each week to pay the debt.
What I wanted to do was to pay £5 a week, but standing order or direct debit - can't do that, as they would take the whole amount.
Can you pay by Paypoint? That would be better for me.
Thanks for any help!

Standing order they can only take the amount you set unlike a direct debit were they can take different amounts.
Set up a standing order only of £5.0 -
Since your Sky service has long been terminated, has the debt not already been sold on to a DCA or written off?
In which case, your credit record is already blemished, so what is your motivation for wanting to settle the debt now?
If you can set up a standing order, that is a fixed payment made by your bank, Sky cannot 'take' any amount they like.
But I rather doubt that they'd be interested in collecting a 2 year old debt over a further period of 3.5 years at £5 a week.
Nor can I see them restoring your service before the debt is cleared, if that was your intention. No free lunch, and no free laptop

£5/week for 3.5yrs? That's £910. Seems like you need a new calculator.0

Oops, had worked it out at £5 a month (since Sky subs are paid monthly, not weekly). No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hello again.
I asked about paying weekly and they didn't say anything about a standing order. Thank you, I will ask them.
My credit is shocking
I want to get Sky back and pay the debt off.
have sorted out gas, electric and water debts. I feel bad about having this debt .
It did go to a debt collector, but when I rang Sky, they told me to ignore it and pay them off instead.
They just don't seem very helpful, or bothered, about getting it payed back.
I am with Virgin and have no phone line, so can't run up a bill I can't pay.
Sky is much better, so I will ask about a standing order.
Thanks everyone :beer:0 -

cant really help with your problem apart from asking them about standing order, but i seriously doubt they will let you sign up to sky again.0 -
They are quite weird that way. They'll let you sign up again when the debt is cleared and sometimes even before. Ring them up insist on £5 a week or nothing. If you want to that is. Does this debt appear on your credit file? If you want Sky back then sort something out with them. They might write off previous debt in exchange for a deal. They would rather a happy partly paying customer than no customer at all. I'd do what the first person has said and ignore the debt collector letters. Once sky has sold the debt you are welcome to rejoin them again.johnnyroper wrote: »cant really help with your problem apart from asking them about standing order, but i seriously doubt they will let you sign up to sky again.:footie:
