            Hi
Sorry to interrupt this thread but we are also looking at getting an Android phone and have seen lots of people on here recommending this one and singing its praises.
We would want to unlock it to allow use with Giff Gaff and other Sims, possibly also 3.
We've also been looking at ones for sale on ebay but they sell for so much that we think new will be a better option as will get warranty.
The ones on ebay also talk about being "rooted, debranded and adding Froyo", all of which means NOTHING to us at all!!
Pls would anyone be able to explain why we need to do these things and if possible provide an idiot proof step by step guide.
 Many thx for any advice.0

Rooted means allowing you to access the OS area, unbranding is getting rid of the Orange livery on the phone itself and Froyo is an Android OS for the phone. Basically if you follow the instructions on the link above its simple and allows you to insert any Sim you want to0

I bought mine from Argos in Leamington for about £100.
 Beware thought!!!!
It's on a PAYG plan BUT, every now and then [4 times so far in 7 months] it wipes all credit off the phone by automatically connecting to the internet without you knowing at all sorts of different times of the day.
I have spoken to Orange technical staff 4 times now and even though they refund the money lost it's a rip off from Orange. I have had to turn off ALL internet to make sure I don't loose any more money. I have had around £15 refunded so far but the annoying thing is you don't know the money has gone untill you go to use the phone and all the credit has gone and then you have to top up before you can call Orange to sort the problem.
So, I have an Android smart phone that I can only use as a phone because Orange cannot guarentee this problem not happening again if I turn the internet on which is pretty crap!:mad::mad:0

Erm...not being funny...but that's what smartphones do! They rely on being able to connect to the internet to update/sync applications. If you don't want them to connect to a certain service, then disable it...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
