Credit Card Comparison Sites

I was just having a browse around looking for a change of reward credit card when I visited another popular site.

This particular site just used to rank cards in order of offers & reward values. But it seems now it want a whole host of details before it will display them. At first I thought it was just trying to sell more by email etc... but the T&C's show a different reason:

Callcredit Limited ("we/us") is a UK consumer credit reference agency. A credit reference agency collects and stores details about you and your personal credit history. Lenders, including banks, building societies and other financial service providers, share credit information about their customers with us. The information we receive is used to create your credit report.
When you select 'Next', you are instructing us to provide your credit report to HD Decisions Ltd ("HD"). HD has been appointed as a processing agent for XXXXXXXXXXX and a number of credit card providers. HD will (on behalf of such credit providers) analyse key elements of your credit file, in order to determine your current financial standing. The analysis of your credit file will be used by HD to identify and rank credit card offers in order of appropriateness for your circumstances (but this does not necessarily guarantee that there will be appropriate credit card offers available to you). This ranked list of offers will then be displayed on the next page. You will then have the opportunity to apply for a credit card directly with the credit card company should you choose to do so. You may update your search results as many times as you want in 30 days. Any searches or updates made after this time will result in another analysis of your credit file.
Please note your credit file will not be provided to you directly, nor will any information be passed to any credit card provider at any point during this process (unless you subsequently agree to this). The information will be used by HD, at your request, on your behalf, to find the most appropriate credit card offers for you.
This process will not have any adverse impact upon your credit standing.
By selecting 'Next', you are not committing to make an application for a credit card. If you choose to proceed to apply for a credit card from the ranked list of offers, then the credit card company will proceed to carry out their own identification and credit application checks.
Please note that the provision of your credit report to 'HD' is subject to the Callcredit Terms and Conditions ("Terms and Conditions")
You agree that the personal details you supply to us will be used for the purposes of:
a) verifying your identity in order to ensure that we are providing your credit report in accordance with your instructions;
b) providing services to our clients in which your personal details are used to assist with identity verification, prevention of fraud/money laundering, service delivery and process implementation;

Glad I read the conditions this time, not to happy about that one!

I take it you will not be signing up to http://www.noddle.co.uk/ then

"Noddle has appointed HD Decisions Limited (“HD”) to provide it with certain data processing services in order to provide you with the Confidence Rating Service.

By requesting provision of the Confidence Rating Service, you consent to Noddle providing HD with information that you have entered into the Noddle website, together with a copy of your credit file. HD will process this information in accordance with instructions given by Noddle for the sole purpose of providing the Confidence Rating Services (as more clearly set out below).

HD will (in conjunction with third party credit providers and information provided by them) analyse key elements of your credit file, in order to determine your current financial standing. The analysis of your credit file will be used by HD to identify and rank product offers in order of appropriateness for your circumstances (but this does not necessarily guarantee that there will be appropriate product offers available to you). You will then have the opportunity to apply for the product directly with the third party credit provider should you choose to do so. If you choose to proceed to apply for a product from the ranked list of offers, then the third party credit provider will proceed to carry out its own identification and credit application checks.

Since many people who read this thread must have signed up on the first day, I would have hoped that at least some would have heard something about the testing trial beginning this week already?

Maybe people here have just been unlucky? Or perhaps the roll out of the testing phase is quite slow?

Hard to say.... I was just curious if anyone here had been contacted yet with details of how to sign up and access the full service in this testing phase?

Strangely enough it isn't the noodle site! But another one of the popular comparison sites.

I'm not sure I really like this indepth data harvesting for a simple 'is there a better credit card' search
